The Reversing Falls are about a 1.5 mile walk from where the cruise ships dock. You can also rent a car from Avis which is a block from the cruise ship port and a LOT cheaper than doing a tour. The Reversing Falls is somewhat of a misnomer as it is more rapids than falls. Unfortunately, they have built an electric company at the rapids which puts a damper on the viewing. But try to ignore it. The Falls are most interesting at the time of high or low tide as that is when the battle to change the direction occurs. It is really cool to watch the rapids close in to form a line to push the water in the opposite way. There is a jet boat tour nearby- they take you out it looked to be about 10 min- most of the time they circled on the outside of the rapids. They did make a couple of forays towards smaller rapids and got everyone on board thoroughly drenched. Also at the site is a Zip Line tour- that does NOT cross over the falls- it is next to the falls and goes over a small section of water but nothing to rave about. The information boards at the sight are poorly written so read up on the phenomenon before you visit to understand what you are looking at. The Reversing Falls is great when coupled with a drive out to Fundy Trail-- to see the boats in St. Martin's sitting on the mud at low tide-that is what is so fabulous- the massive drop in tides. You can get the tide time tables on line by typing in reversing falls tidal times.
