“Super Hotel!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2013

I rarely write comments on TripAdvisor, if I do, it’s either Excellent or Terrible. A business trip to Saint-John permitted me to stay at the Chateau Moncton for one night. From the minute I drove into the outdoor parking lot to my check out nothing but an excellent experience. Excellent curbside appeal. Public areas are well maintained and super clean. Spacious indoor heated garage. Friendly, courteous, helpful staff. Spacious, CLEAN rooms. Free, hot and cold breakfast – eggs, sausage, bacon, beans, pancakes, cereal, yogurt and pastries etc…Free wireless WORKING internet. Congratulation Alvin and staff for your hard work!!!!

We have stayed here before with generally good results and have always recommend this hotel to people who are visiting the city, unfortunately I don't think I will any longer based on our last experience.

Recently reached a major milestone and my wife booked the Presidential suite to celebrate the occasion, the rate was over $250 and for that much in Saint John, your expectations are high. Unfortunately they were not met. The check in was fine, the front desk staff were pleasant. We went up to the room and when we opened the door and walked into the room, we didn't get the impression that it was a presidential suite. The dining room table had a piece of glass protecting the tabletop, it was very streaky. looked like someone had wiped it with a dirty cloth. The microwave was dirty and still had bits of food in it, the chandelier was dusty which sat over the table at little over eye height and the chesterfield cushions were very out of shape. It seems there may be an issue with housekeeping, I really don't care if it was a busy weekend, that is irelevant. We went back downstairs to the front desk staff and expressed our concern, they asked us to sit down and someone would come and speak to us, about 10 mins later the manager said he went and checked the room himself and dealt with the issues. Well we went back to the room and the chandelier was still dusty, there was still bits of food in the microwave and the tabletop was still streaky...so I'm not sure what they did. We gave them an opportunity to fix and address our concerns and did not. We decided to stay anyway because all of the other hotels in town were booked, otherwise we would have left.

I know that some readers will think this as picky, but as I said, we paid over $250 and that is high for a hotel in a small city like Saint John so our expectations were high and they were not met.

Room Tip: If you stay here, don't pay for the extra amenities, they aren't worth it.

We had a king bed room and it was huge for the price.

The room was super clean and very quiet. Free wifi was fast and easy to access. Two phones were available, including a cordless. If needed an inroom safe was available.

The staff were very helpful and checkin and checkout was a breeze.

They offer underground parking, included in the price.

The free breakfast was very good and with lots of variety. They have an automatic pancake maker, no chance of a burn .. nice if you have kids.

Chateu St John will be my hotel of choice whenever our family visits.

We stayed one night in the Presidential Suite. Great little hotel. The room was huge! The bathroom was massive! We found the bed to be extremely comfortable.

The breakfast that was included was great! A great range of choices! Hot and cold items to choose from.

The only small complaint was the gentleman tending the bar must of been new to mixing drinks. We had to wait a bit after we ordered our drinks and didn't quite receive what we had ordered.

This a lovely hotel. It is very clean and modern. The hotel is very easy to excess from yhe highway. The rooms are modern and very clean. They have a lovely buffet breakfast in the morning with bacon, sausage, eggs and homefries and toast. Cereal is also available. I recommend this hotel to anyone.

Had to find a place to stay in Saint John in September. We chose the Chateau Saint John and were very pleased with our decision. This is an impressive recently built hotel, just outside the city centre on the edge of the freeway. We had not pre-booked but the desk staff were polite and courteous and gave us a room on the 7th floor overlooking the front. The room was well appointed with a large comfy king size bed and a sitting area with a sofa and a couple of nice chairs. A desk, fridge and large wall hung plasma tv, plus tea/coffee making and a really nice modern bathroom made for a really comfortable stay. The windows sported heavy curtains and blackout blinds and we di not experience any noise from the highway outside.
Breakfast was provided and included hot and cold buffet and was adequate though not of as high a standard as the room accommodation.

Overall, this is an excellent hotel with accommodation in the luxury class without the luxury price tag. We stayed three nights and I would have stayed longer if my visit had required it.
Would I stay here again? Absolutely. Would I reccommend it. Most definately.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front have the best views and are south facing

We liked the free indoor parking and the fresh new look of the hotel. But as we checked in the clerk told us that he didn't have anything under our name... the last thing any tired traveler wants to hear. We gave him the spelling of our name but he snapped by saying "I know how to spell it". Then he apologized for looking at the wrong screen - he was more embarrassed than apologetic. Our room was clean and spacious. However the toilet clogged up after the first use and we waited 45 min for a plunger to be delivered. Bed way too soft. Room needs to be better soundproofed (too much noise from hallway). Bathroom spacious but towels are cheap and quite abrasive. No restaurant a big minus. Will spend a bit more money next time for better service and location!
