“Experience authentic Vietnamese dishes.”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

We have visited this restaurant twice since it opened. The meals were excellent on both occasions.
The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. It is a great addition to a small city such as ours where ethnic fare is just starting to become available.
This restaurant also offers a small boutique attached where yo can buy interesting gift items from Asia and the Orient.

“Catered to mainstream... Not so authentic”
Reviewed May 15, 2013 via mobile

I've had a lot of Vietnamese food in my day, to say the least, it is my favorite cuisine. This restaurant has a great location and nice, friendly staff.

The food seems to be catered to the easy coast preference ... Bland and "Canadian Chinese".

If you're craving something absolutely authentic in Moncton I would suggest to keep looking.

If you just need something close enough, this place is great!

The portion sizes were a little small and overpriced for view cuisine, a big honking bowl of noodles should be $5-7 (note: big honking bowl of noodles not available here!)

Try it anyway, it's a popular spot!

“Wonderful surprise”
Reviewed May 11, 2013 via mobile

This place had been open for a few years now and I decided to go. The atmosphere is very relaxing, staff is friendly and courteous, food hot, fresh and delicious. The only negative, same as most Asian places, is the dessert selection.

“Bright light on Moncton restaurant scene”
Reviewed May 10, 2013

The bland exterior of the building that houses the Viet Bistro is no indication of the gorgeous interior. The interior is one big open space, beautifully decorated, and spotlessly clean. When you enter, there is a little boutique area on the left where you browse a number of specialty items such as tiffin kits.

The owner promptly greeted us upon our arrival. We sat at one of the booths that lines one wall. We asked for and received advice on our selections. We started with the spring roll and summer roll and we enjoyed both.

For mains, we ordered the spicy tamarind pork and the crispy pan-fried pho with shrimp. Both were bursting with delicious flavors. The ingredients in everything we ordered were fresh and it really made the flavors pop.

My partner ordered the bean pudding for dessert. We share everything we order, so I got a taste. The bean pudding was a light green and of a sticky consistency. In the middle of it, was some sort of root. I believe the owner said it was arrowroot. We both enjoyed the pudding which had a mild refreshing flavor, almost palate cleansing.

The Viet Bistro really stands out as a hopeful beacon of better things to come on the Moncton restaurant scene. It makes me hopeful that we will see more new restaurants from places far away. For me, it's the next best thing to traveling full-time which I would do, given the cash and time.

There is a private parking lot out front. The washrooms, like the entire restaurant, were spotless.
