We have just returned home from our stay at the Colonial Inn, Moncton. There was a large group of us ranging from ages 24 to 70, all women.

The people at the front desk were very helpful and friendly. The restaurant food was reasonably priced and the waitstaff very friendly and accomodating.

The pool and hottub were lovely. The rooms were fine. A nice place to stay.

The security staff, however, were EXTREMELY rude. They have a policy of not wearing bare or sock feet in the hall. Instead of being asked nicely, we were yelled at, and I mean yelled at, to put shoes on our feet. Yelled at again for talking on a cell phone in the hall. Yelled at again in the bar for getting up to dance with a drink in hand. There were about 10 of us sitting in one room together chatting and laughing when security knocked on the door. They said they had a complaint about the noise and asked if we would keep it down. This was shortly after midnight. Most of us were in our pajamas and both security people actually entered the room!!! One of the guards was a man. I must point out that the music blaring in the bar was loud enough to be heard in our rooms.

I realize that hotels have rules that they need to enforce to protect themselves and their customers, but, I think that this could be done in a much more friendly manner. An "Excuse me, but
would you mind putting shoes on when you're in the hall?" would have sufficed.

So, if you don't mind being treated like a naughty child, this is a great place to stay.

I stay here at least twice a year. New management has upgraded a lot of things. New pool this summer with sliding glass enclosure to cover it for winter, new hot tub by pool.
Free WIFI throughout plus lobby computer for guests.

Restaurant is no longer 24 hr ( good news for guests, bad news for party people off the street ).

Rooms have new bathrooms and 2nd floor suites are very well appointed.
Room card swipe now needed to access hallways from lobby = quieter at night.

No, it's not a 5 star hotel but excellent location and staff.

I called and made a reservation for 2 nights and when I drove up in front of the place...I kept driving...I don't or didn't want to find out what the rooms looked like. It was no wonder all the other Hotels in the City were booked up and even the ones at the end of Mountain Road and this little Inn had rooms available.
