“Definitely a place to stay!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2010

We recently spent one night at the Amsterdam Inn. It is rather new and the Inn is very well cared for and comfortable. We were able to get a ground floor room and we could access the patio with comfortable chairs to and from the room with our room key card. It was quiet and comfortable. The staff was top of the line. A very adequate continental breakfast. We cancelled a reservation elsewhere due to negative reviews on Trip Advisor and thank goodness for that as the other facility had broken water pipes on top of all the other negative things. Thank you everyone for your reviews. It was a life saver. This is a great place to stay so enjoy it everyone!

The hotel is clean and reasonably priced. It's not five star featured... but the staff think and act as if it was.

I decided to stay at the (unknown to me) Amsterdam Inn overnight (passing thru) due to the good reviews within Trip Advisor/reseach on the web and was not disappointed. Clean and new, this hotel has comfortable beds plus no pets or smoking (which always is good unless you are a smoking pet owner ). Service was fine (limited to checking in/out) with no waiting around and my reservation was ready. Also the hotel accepted corporate rates which made it cheaper at $100C than other comparable hotels in the area (the WalMartized and disappointing Frederiction). A nice fitness center but no other ammenities (no restaurant) but does have a very good continental breakfast. A bit hard to find but worth it in the context of an overnight stay.

No pool. Clean characterless modern accommodation. Had trouble finding a hotel to accommodate us with 3 kids, so chose this as a last resort. They wheeled in a cot which required creative furniture arranging to fit it in. Poor breakfast too.

We were travelling with extended family due to bereavement. We checked Trip Advisor for local hotel ratings, and were very impressed by the (mostly) positive reviews. Figuring we could live with lousy staff vs a lousy stay, we reserved and I am delighted to say we were VERY impressed with everything. The overnight staff member was extremely helpful, the hotel was spotless, and it was excellent value for money. Being four adults, we were multiple-person accommodation for a reasonable price and with some semblance of privacy for all. What we received surpassed our expectations: a family suite with a queen bed in the main entry room, and bunk beds in a separate room (painted in a cute 'country fair' motif). It was an ideal room for children, with no door to the separate room for safety and and no exit to the hallway for security, and ideally suited our needs. Breakfast was fresh and tasty, everything was nicely presented, and the hotel looked brand new. Realized on our way home that AI is actually a franchise. We will definitely look for other locations in future, as they appear to understand the phrase 'Dutch clean' and take it very seriously. We ultimately stayed at three separate hotels this week, and all four travellers agreed that this was #1 for cleanliness and hospitality.

I booked a room at the Amsterdam Inn as a place to crash with my husband and baby enroute from Ottawa to the Annapolis Valley. The price was reasonable at $105 and the reviews were quite positive. I called to make the reservation and explained on the phone that we'd be arriving late - much past midnight, and we'd like to have the play pen they were providing set up in advance. No problem. I reiterated our late arrival via email when I received their email confirmation #. We were later than planned, and pulled into their parking lot around 2:55am. When we arrived at the front desk there was no one to greet us. Ok, no problem - we assumed they could be sleeping in the office in the back, doing rounds, etc. We waited. After 10 minutes (we rang the bell a few times) we started to wonder if the hotel wasn't staffed 24 hrs. We could see that our bill had already been printed and was laying on the desk, so we assumed they were still expecting us. In any case, we called the Amsterdam Inn's sister property in moncton to see if they knew whether the hotel was staffed 24 hrs - they assured us it was. The lady on the phone was helpful, said she'd make a call or two and asked us to wait 10 minutes. We could hear the phone at the desk ring so we answered it to let her know we were still without assistance. After 30 minutes of waiting she apologized to us and we told her due to the late hour we were going to the Best Western down the street. She assured us we would not be charged as a "no show". As we were pulling out a car speeds into the hotel driveway and we see a man jump out of his car and run inside - the front desk person. We decide to go back in as we hoped it would mean a bed for us sooner than driving to another hotel without a reservation. The man was speedy to check us in - no apologies though, and offered us $10 off our room. When we finally got inside we realized there was no play pen set up. It was in the room, still in its box (we didn't even see it). Frustrated, I went back to the front desk and told him we didn't have a play pen, and asked him what was wrong with the hotel as we were horrified by the service. He just shrugged and said he had been checking on rooms and didn't know we were there (apparently he did not know we watched him drive in). He called our room a few minutes later to say he couldn't find the play pen (and we informed him we had it, just the we didn't see it right away). My husband told him he'd like to be compensated for the room for all the trouble and the man agreed. So in the end, we got a free room, and the room was fairly nice, Free breakfast in the morning. Overall it was hard to enjoy though, given the late hour we arrived and the hassle it took to check in.

My wife and I stayed here, but sad to say, it wasn't our first choice. We were at the Delta, and we wanted to extend our stay for a third night and they couldn't find anything for us. So, we made a mad dash to find a room in the city, and ended up at the Amsterdam. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the lobby area. The staff member who was at the desk was friendly and helpful, but did not set my wake-up call, and I, therefore, missed an important meeting. I left fuming, but the accomodations were nice, and comfortable. And for under $100, probably the best value for any hotel I've ever stayed at. I'll be staying here again. Forget the Delta.
