“Great Location”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

Our family visited the campground and really enjoyed it. The lots were big, well gravelled and spaced apart nicely. You don't feel cramped at this campground with your RV. There are drive through lots as well as the standard style.

The upgrades have improved the overall feel of the campground as I was here a few years ago. The new washroom facilities are great (neat and clean). We did some fishing and caught a couple bass. The campground has some really great water views. It is quiet, very family friendly and enjoyable as there are lots of activities to chose from (bikes trails, fishing, kayaking/canoeing, swimming). Also, one other point is there are not a lot of bugs here. Some campgrounds you get eaten alive.. that wont happen here as you are not buried in the woods.

I noticed some other reviews about price, frankly there aren't many parks with these nice of sites and amenities so I think it's worth it. I will pay for my kids to enjoy themselves for the day so I can sit back and enjoy some down time too :)

We stayed for a week-end in an area with water & electric, but no septic. $50 per night (with extra charges for pool and other attractions) is expensive. It is a great location, but not a great value.

The thing that really stood out to me is the customer service... or, the lack thereof. I showed up at 10:AM, no one was in the office, and eventually someone told me to go ahead and set up my trailer and come back at 11:AM when the office opened. I did just that, and the person working in the office showed up at 11:30. There was confusion with the price (we were overcharged), and the booking system was not working. Multiple staff were COMPLETELY ignorant of RVing, and had no idea if they even had a dump station. Overall, the staff are well meaning but incompetent.

It rained the week-end we were there, and because of this they shut down almost everything, including the canteen. I would expect with a full campground they would at least attempt to open the canteen for busy periods, but this was not the case. Poor communication to campers.

Overall, overpriced and poorly run.

Hartt Island Campground/Resort

We camp regularly at Hartt Island and we absolutely love it! This is an awesome location and has really changed over the last year. There are so many new upgrades and it has made a huge difference. This is a resort not just a plain old campground. You can fish all day here so bring your rod and use one of their canoes while you fish or you can just enjoy the amazing scenery. The water view is breathtaking and if you take a kayak or canoe out the scenery is serene! You can bring your boat as there is a launch and dock as well the sites are huge and you have tons if space to put it. There is a great dock you can fish off of and enjoy a moment!

The sites are really great. We are talking drinkable city of Fredericton water which is good. The electric boxes at each site are neat and convenient as well as sewer and water hookup. There are two kinds of sites one is a drive through sites which motor homes can drive through so easily. In fact, caravans come often and love those sites as they don't have to unhook their cars when they arrive! There are also the regular sites which are overlooking the water directly or just near the water. The sites above all have a water view with the ones closes to the walking trail having the best view (obviously).

There are a lot of great tenting sites which are enjoyed by many. This year the great thing is that if you are tenting near the pool you can actually get into the washrooms near the pool as they gated the pool differently to allow for access at all times to those facilities.

There are two big new building that have very clean washroom facilities. The ones near the pool have changing areas also.

The facilities in the top section are amazing too. Very nice laundry facilities, showers which are roomy for a family and are kept neat and tidy. (See photos)

The pool is like none you will ever see at a campground. The photos say is all. They do serve pop/ice cream etc . There is a section for younger kids too that has great slides!

There is also a nicely matured mini putt course here. Again, very fun and enjoyable especially after the long day of swimming!

The walking trails the go right into Fredericton are super! You can rent bikes and take them right into the city and enjoy the city market on Saturday morning or go down to the light house on the green and grab an ice cream. There are places all over to place your bike and if you go to the light house you can bring your bike right up on deck when you sit and enjoy! The walking trails are a best kept secret to many. You can walk your puppies on them, ride bikes or just enjoy a walk! They are paced as you get into the city and you will be impressed! What campground can you enjoy a wonderful downtown green and be camping too!! If you bring a boat you can go to Fredericton downtown and I think dock at the Fredericton dock downtown.

This place is a great place for families as well as couples looking to enjoy a clean, updated campground and have a nice time enjoying the outdoors and all this place has to offer. We highly recommend this place, you will love it! If you we're here a few years ago, you will be pleasantly surprised at how this place has taken shape!

Stayed two nights (June 21 - 22, 2013) in what appears to be a newer section. We found it to be a cozy, quiet campground. Close to a road so you're going to hear some light traffic. It's a small camground adjacent to the St John River. Very beautiful surroundings with a walking path that stretches for about 6 kilometers. We have a 26-foot trailer and found the lot to be a great size. You won't feel crammed in like sardines. Every lot appeared to be very level. Each lot is made of crushed gravel, with grass separating each lot. Firewood is $6/bundle although you can walk across the street and buy it from a house for $5/bundle. Nice little play area for the children.

We paid $50/night for a lot with water, sewer, and electric. That price does not include access to the water park area, which would have been an extra $15/day per person. We found that price to be a little high for the caliber of this campground. Nothing wrong with the campground, but for $50/night they should be including access to all additional amenities (waterpark, boats, mini-golf). Staff were very friendly. Check-in was simple. If there was an on-site convenience store I was not aware of it.

We would certainly stay at this campground again if it weren't for the price. There's still a little renovation going on but it's not intrusive. Curious to see what the place looks like next year.

This 'resort' has delusions of grandeur but has yet to reach its full potential. The owner seems to be building a major upgrade step by step as he is able to finance the construction. Some of the choices made, such as the lighting stands have been bad choices. The new washroom facilities are clean and bright; the newly constructed water-play area is open to the public. At some point it is to be hoped they actually build a proper reception area. The check in process takes way too long; on the other hand without a reservation I've never been turned away. Camping includes the waterplay area; if you aren't using it you're paying a premium price for a service you aren't using. Staff are friendly if inefficient.

Room Tip: If you can reserve a waterfront site the views of the Saint John River are magnificent. Sunrises and...

While we were there they were doing a major expansion. We pulled in and couldn't find the office (it was in a shack).

We wanted a full hook up but could only get water and electric. We were told we could have a FHU if one was available - none were available because all appeared to be seasonal sites. (They were working on a large new section which I assume has FHU now).

We found the campground noisy from the nearby road. Our site was narrow with a large tree with LOW branches on one side and a large bush on the other. We had to decide which we wanted out - the slide or the awning. We chose the slide since that's the only way to access the bathroom.

Speaking of low branches - watch out for them in the old section. One low branch hit our AC unit on the roof. While construction is likely over now it started at 07:30 with lots of heavy equipment. The new sites look like a parking lot. Cramed together in parking lot style.

The resort is not just open to campers. While we were leaving 6 bus loads of school children arrived. Anyone hoping to get anywhere near the pool would have been disappointed.

We found the $39 + HST high for just W&E
