Hot Dogs are simply boiled and people rave about them ...go figure
If you order the special which is a Hot Dog, Fries and Drink for 8.00 it consists of a
a Hot dog with barely any onions or condiments and they called that loaded???? Either McCain blanched disgusting fries(soggy) or home-style fries for an extra buck both of which are under-sized. My 7-up tasted like tonic water which I returned and was told the syrup tank wasn't working properly. All in all for 2 our lunch was 20.00 and it wasn't very satisfying. Last time I drive to Lockport for lunch.

This place is a waste of money to travel to. They have the most disgusting, rubbery, tasteless hot dog I have ever eaten. Actually, after we ate those hot dogs it has totally turned me off of any hot dog. Their chilli is dry and tasteless and their fries are dry and powdery. Never ever go here hot dog fans, this dive ruined it for me. Appearance of their joint is the only positive thing.

Don't go into Skinner's expecting your average fast food place. Skinner's is an experience of good food, unique decor and music! This has been a long time family favorite for many who enjoy the drive out to Lockport from the city. You can even change up your experience each time you go. They serve the best hot dogs, yummy hamburgers, home made fries, deep fried perogies and an awesome selection of soft or hard ice cream! So, you can have the full meal experience in the sit down restaurant, the take out and eat in the car or at one of the picnic tables on a summer day experience, or grab an ice cream cone and go for a walk in the park across the street that will take you to the Lockport Locks on the Red River. Its all up to you and your mood!! No matter how you decide to experience Skinner's on the River, you will enjoy it and it may even become part of your family's memories as it has for many of us over the years.

Milkshakes in a metal container, foot-long hot dogs, great burgers and all of that with a personal jukebox at your table. Because Jimmy Skinner was a coach of the Red Wings in the late 40's and early 50's, there are a whole bunch of vintage photos of the Red Wings and other NHL teams of the time. I go there two or three times a summer even though it's a 45 minute drive to get there.
