“Wow!”
Reviewed January 27, 2013

This is not a budget restaurant, but what it is, is fabulous. Our meal started with a complimentary bread basket accompanied by 3 spreads, including a fabulous olive tapenade. I tried the charcuterie platter which was lovely and the wild rice and mushroom soup which was not only tasty but was served in a full sized soup bowl - beware - the portions are very large. I ended up taking home half of my fabulous steak, which was cooked exactly as ordered (medium rare) and was melt in your mouth tender. For dessert I tried a pretzel caramel chocolate confection which elicited OMGs! aplenty. Again I took most of it home but I had to try it. : ) The service is perfect, our server without hovering was there to fill the wine glasses at the correct moment, offer to box up leftovers and pour coffee. The room is lovely, the location is central,... Will I be back? Absolutely!

“Quiet spot for lunch”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

Met friends at The Forks and wanted a spot for lunch where we could visit and catch up.....this was a great choice for that. We had a table in the lounge by the windows. Lovely bright room! Service was excellent and our server was charming, to say the least. The soup of the day was a smoked tomato and 5 bean. We were warned that it had a kick but it was ordered and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. At our table, we ordered the hummus/roasted vegetable wrap, the burger with fries, the grilled chicken and Brie sandwich and the clubhouse. Portions were very adequate. Everyone enjoyed their lunch selection. Presentation of the dishes was very pleasing.

“Who Unplugged The Current?”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

We've always had excellent meals and superior service at The Current. That is, until Jan. 1st this year. We were unable to make reservations for brunch until after 1pm because the earlier times were reserved for hotel patrons. Okay - we understand - however the restaurant was deserted... The menu was limited and we would have had more choice at the pancake place next door, at more reasonable prices. The service was disinterested, to say the least. Not only did the waitress not appear to understand the etiquette of serving, she also did not seem to know customer service. She slopped my husband's coffee into his saucer and it spilled onto me as she reached across the table. Ouch! She saw it, but didn't bother to even offer a napkin to sop up the mess. He had to ask for one and he had to clean up the spill. When she saw me putting ice on my arm she explained that she was very tired after working late the night before. Accidents do happen, but an apology goes a long way in smoothing ruffled feathers (in this case burned skin). She only asked one of us if we wanted our soup before the meal (we told her we all did). Seems the previous night damaged her hearing because only 1 of us received the soup before the meal. The food was "okay". The soups were tasty but 3 out of the 4 of us were unable to finish our burned (not toasted) bread. Yessirree ... nothing like the taste of burned toast to start off the New Year!

“Excellent Breakfast”
Reviewed December 28, 2012

The Current in the Inn at the Forks is an excellent restaurant. The breakfast choices are both traditional and highly imaginative . . you choose. The quality of food is first class, including very fresh eggs and a wide variety of fresh bread/toast. The staff are knowledgeable, polite and very welcoming.
