“Best Chinese food in the city.”
Reviewed November 17, 2012

I highly recommend the deep fried veal or lemon chicken. The Almond Gai Ding is also very good with white chicken breast pieces with celery, carrots brocolli and other veggies covered in almonds. Very nice. Plus it has Karaoke on Tuesdays with lots of hot girls.

“Dont let the place fool you”

The best szechuan chicken in Winnipeg, bar none. The singapore noodles and veal and too far behind.

“Tasty and fresh”
Reviewed May 21, 2012 via mobile

We stayed in the motel across the street and walked over. On a Monday night this place was very busy with sit in and take out so it took awhile for our food. All of it was hot, fresh, tasty. Staff were very friendly and polite. Only flaw is the place is a bit run down, needs a face lift.

“terrible service and questionable food”
Reviewed January 30, 2012

We had a very bad experience with the Wok house several months ago when the food they delivered was all dried out. It was quite clear that they were trying to pass off reheated food as fresh. When we complained all the manager would say was that he would "comp" us with one free entree. The whole meal was inedible so this was not good enough.

Because of the above bad experience, it was months before we ordered from them again (we went to a competitor in the meantime), Then recently we though to give them another chance. We never got to try the food. We called on a Sunday night...not really a busy time, and was told it would arrive 45 mins to an hour later. When the food wasn't there 90 minutes later, we called again and was told it would be there within 20 minutes. When 30 minutes went by and still no food, we called again and again were told it would be there in 20 minutes. It was obvious that they had a problem but didn't seem to care. We told them to cancel the order since it was now too late for us, and they didn't seem to care. We'll never go back..

“Stay away from the Wok House.”
Reviewed January 14, 2012

I have been a fan of good Chinese restaurants for many years. I frequent Dim Sum locations and have tried a wide variety of dishes from squid to sea cucumber soup. So my experience with Chinese cuisine is quite vast.

What a mistake walking into this dump. We tried the other Wok House on 1029 McGregor Street and although it was nothing to write home about, it wasn't that bad. But being a restaurant of the same name, one would think they would try to be consistent with both locations to protect their brand or reputation.

Upon walking in through the bar clientele smoking out the outer entrance, we were first unimpressed by the dumpy appearance. Then came the slow to serve waitress with an inability to remember the slightest detail of the order.

We ordered Pan Fried Shrimp, Beef and Veggies, Seafood Chow Mein. First the shrimp arrived breaded. I sent them back as the menu does not specify breaded at all and my kids hate breaded. First time I ever saw breaded pan fried shrimp. They returned a while later with what looked like the same shrimp with the horrible tasting breading scraped off.

The Beef and Veggies, if that was beef, hardly resembled it and was terrible, accompanied by dead looking veggies with a matching dead tasting sauce. The Seafood Chow Mein, furthest thing from fresh anything, added to the bad taste left in all of our mouths. I think it still lingers in my taste buds a day later.

Uh, and the food was kind of warm.

I guess anyone thinks they can open a Chinese restaurant these days. What utter garbage.
