I had visited Santa Lucia often in the past, but always for the pizza which was generally quite good. The restaurant has a very diverse menu with burgers, pizza, seafood, and both Greek and Italian dishes. However, our most recent visit was disappointing. Two people in our party decided to try the Greek food from the menu, specifically the Moussaka and the Chicken Souvlaki. The Greek salad, which was included with these menu items, was soggy with all of the ingredients swimming together, suggesting that it might have been prepared earlier in the day. The Moussaka and the Souvlaki come with heaps of potatoes and dry garlic toast, but both dishes were far from impressive and didn’t meet our expectations based on sampling this cuisine in other establishments both in Winnipeg and elsewhere. Overall, we found the food tasteless and uninviting. Other members of our party sampled the pizza, which seemed OK, but far from being gourmet. Servings are overly generous, but perhaps might be reduced to put more effort in enhancing the quality of the ingredients and the cuisine.
