“Sunday's Eggs Benedict”
Reviewed February 10, 2013

We decided to try breakfast at the Pembina Village Restaurant and we were not disappointed. Service is friendly and quick. We received our coffee immediately with timely refills. On Sundays, they offer Eggs Benedict with pan fried potatoes for $9.99. It was done perfectly. I find most hash browns offered at restaurants are either the cubed, French-fried form or shredded and greasy. These were real pieces of potatoes pan-fried and delicious. We will definitely be back.

“You Won't Go Hungry Here!”
Reviewed August 18, 2012

We dropped in at the Pembina Village Restaurant at 333 Pembina. This is a family run restaurant geared to families. The night we were there there were several families with young children eating there, well behaved children, I might add.

The restaurant, situated at the far north end of Pembina near Confusion Corner is a building that at first glance looks like it should be renovated and remodelled. On entering, the interior is quite modern, tastefully decorated and spacious with seating for approximately sixty. A small but well stocked bar with four stools is located on the right as soon as you enter. This bar would be a nice quiet place to stop in for a drink after work. Perhaps this is a small neighbourhood "watering hole" that is another well kept Winnipeg secret.

Our waitress was excellent. She was a little withdrawn at first until she learned that we were a bunch of jokesters and she became more outgoing as she overheard our conversations and often times laughed along with us. She was very attentive and was very efficient at her job.

Pita triangles with a sour cream and chives dip along with a basket full of garlic bread were delivered to our table. Both were delicious though the garlic toast was a little thin. Texas style garlic toast would have been more to our liking. Each of the six of us ordered something different this time. I ordered the daily special of an 8 oz. New York steak with six jumbo shrimp, rice, lemon potatoes, various sauted vegetables and a Greek salad. Everyone commented on the large portions. Meals were served piping hot when delivered to the table. The steak, ordered medium well was cooked to perfection and the shrimp were tasty with a slightly blackened grilled coating and bathed in butter. Delicious! This special was far better than would be expected for the reasonable $16.99 price.

Other members of the dinner group had the salmon (moist and succulent), lamb (comparible to the best lamb enjoyed at other restaurants), pork cutlets (crispy coating and delicious), pork shish-kabobs (dellicious but perhaps a little dry appraised by someone who always orders chicken) and finally chicken parmagena (large portions, delicious and enough to take home for another time). Everyone was happy with their meals and we all agreed that the club member that chose this restaurant this month made an excellent choice.

Coffee and tea were offered but only the three women had coffee. We men were still nursing our beers and/or wine. Since the portions were so large nobody had room for dessert though we were tempted when the waitresses kept taking scrumptious desserts past our table to the other patrons. This restaurant was an excellent choice. Never having been there before we were impressed with the decor, the waitresses, the portion size, the prices and the way we were treated. We felt like we were at a home of a good friend. My meal, including two beers and a tip totalled $35.00. The restaurant wasn't full so we didn't feel the need to rush out and so as usual we stayed and visited until after 9:00 p.m. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting great food, overly ample portions and reasonable prices. My rating for this restaurant would be 5 stars out of 5.
Footnote: If you go to this restaurant two words of warning......go hungry!

“Great place to go with older relatives”
Reviewed May 28, 2012

Pembina Village is on of Winnipeg's best Greek restaurants. The interior is old fashioned, but clean and spacious. It has become increasingly difficult for my family to find places to eat where my Grandparents will be happy, Pembina Village is a guaranteed hit. The food is consistent, the portions are massive, and the prices are reasonable, especially if you order the special.

They also have an unbelievable breakfast with thick pieces of ham and Greek hash-browns.

“Can't go wrong with Souvlaki lunch special”
Reviewed April 14, 2012

I have been going to this restaurant for many years and have never had a bad meal. Lately I have only done lunch and only have the chicken souvlaki. It comes with soup of the day and Greek salad and garlic toast. Always excellent. This is a family owned Greek restaurant. Portions are generous, service excellent as most of the servers have been there as long as I can remember. It is a very busy restaurant and I am not sure if they take reservations.

“Great Greek food, unpretentious, extremely welcoming”
Reviewed April 8, 2012

We take my wife's parents, 92 and 89, here for special meals. Staff always remembers them as regulars before they moved into a retirement home. It's simply laid out, booths and tables, more like a family restaurant but with great food. It's primarily Greek --- the lamb chops are superb, the Greek Salad very tasty, always choose the lemon roast potatoes. Several specials each night --- good prime rib when it's available --- the wines are reasonable though limited, Decadent desserts, but try not to run out of rice pudding again. One of the city's neighbourhood gems.
