“Won't be a hotspot unless they improve menu”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 20, 2014

Limited menu.... Very limited !
If your going to have such a small menu you would expect amazing dishes. Pretty average
Location is very good and found parking no problem
Beautiful building- bathroom clean. Nice temperature inside.
Excellent waiter- Jarrett
If the service was at the same level as the food I wouldn't return bit we lucked out with a very good waiter and might return for drinks and a appetizer

“Somewhat Disappointed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2014

Attractively renovated heritage building with fabulous views but weak on the little details that will make a restaurant better than average. You can't coast on location forever.

First impression – a visit to the ladies room at the beginning of evening service and the toilets were filthy even though the washroom had apparently been cleaned as the counter had been wiped and the floor was clean(ish). Sorry, but it made me wonder how clean the rest of the restaurant was if details like this could be overlooked. Just saying. It put me off the whole experience.

Limited menu choices. No bread on the table while we were waiting for food. Probably a cost saving measure but a little bread (with dip or herb butter, etc) is cheap and goes a long way. Could use a menu consultation and better balance between spicy and not spicy. Over spicing is an easy substitute for real flavour.

Our waitress was pleasant and attentive but it seemed that most of the other staff was chosen for looks rather than an agreeable demeanor. Music was too loud and seemed to be chosen by the young kitchen staff. Hey, it’s not a night club and it was only 5pm. Hire a music consultant and save the loud rock for the late night crowd.

Great trendy open concept restaurant. Good is very good. Could see this place becoming a very popular spot in Winnipeg in the near future!

“Nice place for dinner, breakfast and after work drinks”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 2, 2014

My husband and I stayed at the boutique hotel next door and thought we would give Cibo a try for dinner. The space is really cool, all wood and exposed brick, just like you think it should be in the Exchange. The service was casual and friendly. At the suggestion of our server, we started with the bruschetta and we weren't disappointed. There are a lot of choices but I think my favourite was the mushroom, totally delicious. The menu is small but has some intriguing items so we settled on the pizza which had a super crispy thin crust.

We liked it so much, we came back for breakfast! Again, service was good and we were served quickly enough to make this a place we would come to for pre-workday breakfast.

Cibo is definitely a nice addition to the downtown and we will be back. After seeing the drink specials, I'm dying to come back for after work drinks to try the freshly grated horseradish Caesar.
