It seems as though there is more packed into Assiniboine Park in Winnipeg than in almost any other city park anywhere in the world. The amazing sculptor Leo Mol was quite prolific and worked at his art and craft for decades in Winnipeg. The large collection in the sculpture garden is threaded with walkways, in and amongst the beautifully treed and landscape garden set aside. It is a large enough garden to allow each sculpture to have its own position without imposing on the next one. For photographers and art lovers alike, early mornings after sunrise and late afternoons before sunset provide some amazing light and shadow in which to photograph or simply view and appreciate Mol's wonderful creations. Assiniboine Park can occupy an entire day between its excellent zoo, numerous gardens (the English Garden is not to be missed - there are few others as good anywhere else in Canada), walking trails, pavilions, playing fields, picnic areas, Theatre in the Park, and a couple of very good restaurants.
