“Winnipeg is so fortunate to have the WAG!”
Reviewed September 21, 2013

The Winnipeg Art Gallery is truly a place everyone should visit to experience the many creative and innovative displays on offer. The shows are constantly changing and evolving and it is one of the few places you can go and enjoy at a very reasonable price. This summer we were privileged to have the 100 Masters, Only in Canada exhibit and it was magnificent. Everyone is to congratulated on pulling together such a terrific showing. Now they are gearing up for several new exhibits including The Clock, a German Expressionist exhibit and many more. These are in addition to their current Inuit exhibit which is very extensive. I hope everyone takes time to attend an exhibit that interests them, providing support to this century old city treasure.

“The Winnipeg Art Gallery: A visual treat in the heart of the city”
Reviewed September 19, 2013

One of the must see's for us when we travel is to go to the Public Art Gallery in the city, or town, we are visiting. The Winnipeg Art Gallery ("the WAG") was high on the list for our recent trip to Sothern Manitoba.

While we were there, the WAG had a special show exposition of 100 works by "Masters" which included everyone from Reubens to the Group of Seven. These works were on loan form Art Galleries across North America and was stunning. But, tre real reason for our going was to see the collection of the WAG.

The WAG is a wonderful gallery, modern in form but friendly (like Manitoba, itself) with works from every genre, and period. Going to a "local gallery" rewards the visitor with works by many artists which arenew to the viewer. The WAG is a perfect example of the treats to be found when one looks.

The WAG is a wonderful opportunity to see a wonderful collection of very fine artist's work.

“Well-organized, but ridiculously overpriced”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

The 100 Masters exhibition is a hodge-podge of paintings and sculptures brought together from just about every corner of Canada (spanning a wide range of styles and genres, from Cranach to Inuit carvings). It has a great educational value for anyone who has never visited an art gallery before. However, taking this into account, the admission fee should have been given A LOT more consideration, because people who would have benefitted from this exhibition the most would not likely to fork over $55 for a family ticket. For comparison, our family toured the Uffizi Gallery one week prior and were charged less than $30 for a far superior experience. If the Gallery management's mandate is to educate Canadians about Art, they should first of all make access to this art affordable. If their purpose is to show random pieces of art to people who can afford to travel to Florence to see Uffizi, well... the purpose achieved!

I just visited the WAG. The 100 Masters was amazing and I found the gallery well laid out to be able to enjoy the works of art.

“Very nice visit. Beautiful gallery”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

We saw the 100 Masters exhibit (which Closed) which was very nice. Covered several periods from 1500 ad on. Winnipeg itself was a pleasant surprise for us as we did not know what to expect. A class city in the middle of Canada. The museum is modern and has a nice permanent collection.
