We had read in the visitor guide materials that this museum has won awards -- and having visited the museum we felt the accolades were deserved. We have visited a number of science and history museums in various parts of the US and Canada and without a doubt this museum is the best we've every visited.

We opted just to go through the history exhibits which took a couple hours. The exhibits are arranged in a unique way so that people are actually guided through them in a sequence. The artifacts on display are really excellent and the narratives are interesting. This is one that you will definitely want to put on your list of places to visit

The Manitoba Museum is a world class attraction. The signiture exhibit features a full size replica of the Nonsuch, the ship that led to the founding of the Hudson's Bay Company back in 1670. The ship was built using authentic 17th century tools to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the HBC, and you can actually go on it for a very authentic experience.

The Museum features a wide variety of exhibits, many of them interactive. A personal favourite is the recreation of downtown Winnipeg in the early years of the 20th century. You can enjoy old time movies, visit a dentist, a mission or a factory, and experience how the railway really did divide the city between the "old money" on the south side and the new immigrants on the north side.

This museum really is world class - a "must see".

This museum has modest ambitions, with a focus on Manitoba and its history. But it is simply outstanding in its coverage and execution. The exhibits are diverse and fascinating, and the Nonesuch Gallery is amazing. A must see for visitors to the city.

I've been going to the Manitoba Museum since the 1970's and always look forward to going back, especially to show visitors the rich history and cultural life of Manitoba. The panorama of the buffalo hunt as you enter the main gallery is amazing, the Nonsuch replica of an actual ship, surrounded by its' exhibit of a dockside town of the period is wonderful, and the authentic replica of a small town, complete with vaudeville theatre is a hit with adults and children alike. The galleries of wildlife, native habitats and the North are all inspiring and the new prehistoric exhibit is fascinating with its recreation of the underwater creatures.
There are about 2.6 million artifacts in the collection, with additional exhibits presented in the galleries throughout the year.

Huge place! Easy to kill a few hours. Typical old fake towns set up and dead wild animals in displays. If you never have been to a museum like this you will love this place, but if you have been to several you will probably breeze through it rather fast unless you have kids with. They had some really cool dinosaur displays.
