“An absolute gem!”
Reviewed August 11, 2010

Relaxing atmosphere and a great menu. My husband and I really enjoyed the whole experience. The staff were professional and attentive. I'd absolutely recommend and go back to try new things!

Complained constructively about our meal but response was basically they can do no wrong and that we the customer did not know what was good or bad when it came to their cuisine!!

“Excellent restaurant”
Reviewed November 17, 2009

Great food makes up for just ok decor. Chef Jon Royal uses local produce and responds well to requests for dietary restrictions. It's a hidden gem and if you go, be sure to try the Chef's Choice Menu. Really great choices and I have yet to have a meal there that is not excellent.

“Mediocre”
Reviewed November 8, 2009

This establishment is quite small and could be much better with some effort. We know that it has changed names and owners a few times. It is a good local French speaking restaurant with some support from the surrounding community. But it has to go a long way to become more than a small local place. Its competition is very strong and quite frankly much better.

It claims to be French Canadian food but it is more continental than that. My wife's meal was a very good seafood combination of shrimp, salmon and sole wrapped in parchment paper. I selected the bison ribs which are regional and were very good. Our dining companion's had favourable comments on their meals. The prices are quite high in consideration of the product. There are other places in proximity that are equal in price and better in service.

If you do not want any alcohol with your meal, then that's fine. But our routine requests for a libation was not met. A Manhattan, no rye whiskey; a Cosmopolitan, no gin; a glass of Dubonnet, no way. Then there's the wine list. Our first three choices were not available. We settled for wine that was not really a good choice for our meals. Then the Irish coffee was served with Bailey's????? Not good.

The service was well paced but not the most attentive.

Back in the day, I think this was a gas station, then a video rental store and finally a few restaurants. Herein is a major location problem, the 7-11 is across the street and the headlights of vehicles exiting their parking lot sweep across your eyes like you have just broken out of prison. Not the most relaxing time when your dining companions are periodically lit up like the Tower of London on a December night. Some window coverings would go a long way to solve this issue.

Resto-Gare is probably a better choice with a nicer location, superior alcohol list and at comparable prices. La P'tit France could be much better but right now it is just mediocre.
