This was our first visit to Resto Gare.

The venue was quite nice (& clean) - we dined in the train car. Excellent staff - very attentive & pleasant. The food was good - but didn't WOW us..... the portions were a good size & fairly priced.
We had gone for supper to cellebrate a special occasion, which we mentioned at time of making our reservations, but nothing special was done.......other than "best wishes".

Would we go back? Possibly.........

Impeccable preparation, and polished service in a refined, yet comfortable environment.

Will not disappoint!

The last time we were here, it was still La Vielle Gare, and we were not too impressed. However, the radio ads made it sound like a new and better place, so off we went! It was terrific! Even better than I remember it in the "old" days. My husband and I both had some of the best French meals we've had in a very long time. My duck was super delicious, and plentiful. His coq au vin was also wonderful -- and he is very picky! The French onion soup was amazing, and so was everything else. We for sure won't wait so long to go back again. This is a great place for couples, friends, and for sure a great place to take out of town visitors!

La Ville Gare was one of my favorite restaurants when I lived in Winnipeg years ago. On my visits 'home' , my group of friends gathered at different restaurants over the years. This last visit, I suggested Resto Gare after looking at the online menu - which by the way has an impressive array of items at modest cost. We made reservations and arrived early (~5:30pm on a Sat) and were seated immediately. We reveled in the attention given to us by our waiter. He totally understood 'girls night out' and didn't rush us; and was helpful in drink and meal selection. He knew the menu! The place got very busy but even then, service was spot on...and the food - was out of this world. We all had different menu items and without exception they were beautifully presented and deliciously executed. The ambiance of this restaurant is just what we are looking for - traditionally warm, historic, antique and intriguing. This is our 'new' place now and we will be regular customers here on in. Can't wait till next time!!!

beautiful place, awesome staff, and great food, but it is up scale, don't wear jeans and a baseball hat. You will feel underdressed, but they will still treat you with respect. Had a good night. would definitely recommend. Better for a couples date than a regular diner, althought they are supposed to have a deadly lunch for the average hungry person.
