The hotel staff was excellent. Service was prompt. Everybody we spoke to at the front desk was kind, friendly and went the extra mile to make us feel welcome. I have NOTHING but excellent things to say about everyone that works for the hotel itself.
The in-hotel restaurant, Altos, was a different story all together. My family and I went there for two different meals. Saturday night, we went for the dinner buffet, where we had to wait over 10 minutes to be seated and then another 10 minutes for the chef to come back and serve the buffet. They were out of several of the dishes in the buffet and the dishes that were remaining were very dried out from sitting under heat lamps for so long. Over all, the buffet was highly over priced given the quality of food and the quantity of options we were given.
Sunday morning we went for breakfast at Altos. Once more, we waited over 10 minutes to be seated (although there were several empty tables). Our waiter was polite but he was obviously overworked, as it took him ages to come back to fill up drinks etc because he had so many tables to watch. The buffet was HORRENDOUS! I try very hard not to be a complainer in these reviews, but for a restaurant to screw up bacon THAT badly is just ridiculous. Of the 5 adults that were eating the buffet, not a single one of them could finish their plates the food was so nasty. Once more, the buffet was ridiculously overpriced, especially given the fact that the only edible thing in the buffet were the potatoes. Everything else was overcooked, undercooked or, in the case of the bacon, inedible (once more...I do not even understand HOW they made the bacon taste that bad!!). The kid's buffet price is especially ridiculous. My 5 year old niece couldn't possible eat $8 worth of pancakes in that buffet. We had to request a kid's menu because one was never brought to us.
My sister and I went to go to the buffet as well, but my husband stopped us before we could, because he'd already filled his plate and knew how awful it was. I ordered bacon and eggs, with my eggs over medium. They came out so undercooked that the yolk was still cold. The whole bottom of the egg was still slimy. The toast was drenched in butter and the $10 breakfast came with 2 small strips of bacon. Once more, very poor value...
My recommendation: stay at the hotel but avoid that restaurant. I try very hard to be fair in my reviews and if I say something is this bad...it's REALLY bad. The manager of that restaurant needs to be replaced because he/she is clearly not concerned with the quality of food being provided to their patrons.
