“New hotel on the prairie”
Reviewed May 20, 2013 via mobile

Booking.com offered up Motel6 when I discovered I had to travel to Brandon unexpectedly this spring. I hadn't been to Brandon in a couple of decades, and never had stayed. This hotel was on the north service road strip, along the Trans-Canada and close to the main routes into Brandon itself. Check-in was quick. Elevator a little hard to find when on upper floors - walked past it a few times. Good basic motel with modern furnishings and laminate floors (love). A comfy chair in the rooms would be nice. Bathroom GFI in my room was busted - reported to front desk, but not replaced - bit of a pain as i dried hair in the room under the tv. Had loaner hair dryers and a basic continental breakfast which my traveling companions appreciated. Walking distance to a few fast food places and across the highway from Smitty's.

Just needed a place to stay for the night. Called Super8 and Choice and was quoted numbers in 3-digits - Motel6 was ~$71 so that made it easy and price included a simple continental breakfast. Fast, friendly and efficient check-in. Opened the door to a room that did not look like any other hotel/motel I've been in before. Laminate floors were clean and 2 very comfy queen beds. Flatscreen on wall with SVGA-RCA and HDMI inputs for your laptop display as well as plugs right at the table (w/ 2 chairs). Best set-up I have seen in this and many higher price-ranges. Bathroom did everything we needed it to - hot water, lots of towels, no leaks.

I would not hesitate to stay at Motel 6 for the majority of my roadtrip needs.

Stayed here several days and for the most part quite pleasant. Funky decor but still has a motel feel. Laminate floors in the rooms makes it horribly noisy if there are people above you, sounds like they are stomping around. It gets really annoying. The staff were totally friendly for the most part and the breakfast has everything you need. A really good value so great for a road trip stop over. The cleaning crew were really good but one thing they do that was not very appealing was that they sweep all the rooms out and leave all the dirt and dust in the carpeted hallway for a couple hours while until they clean all the rooms. It looks gross especially on the bottom floor where the pets stay and piles of hair sit there. Otherwise quite a good place.

Room Tip: Other people have also warned to stay on the top floor...way too noisy!

This is a wonderfully modern place to stop for the evening. My wife and I enjoyed the modern decor and the great flat screen TV. The front desk people were really friendly and were the reason I decided to stay here.

We stayed at this hotel with a team of AAA hockey players in February. The decor is very "Ikea" looking and seems a little stark. You get used to it, though, and I appreciated the clean feeling the room had with minimal furnishings and bare floor. The beds were comfortable. The amenities in the bathroom were minimal- soap and shampoo only. No hair dryers in the room but you can ask for one at the front desk. The walls are VERY thin, so if you're a light sleeper, bring ear plugs. There is no breakfast, but they will give you a coupon for a breakfast sandwich at McDonalds next door. We stayed here 3 nights, then due to a snowstorm that shut down the highway East of Brandon, we ended up staying an additional night. They were very sympathetic to our situation, and offered us a nice discount for our surprise fourth night's stay. This was very thoughtful of them, as a hockey weekend can be very expensive. All in all, it was worth it for the money, and the management is very friendly and helpful.

When I arrived at the Motel 6 I was greeted by the politest front desk staff that were very accommodating throughout my stay. The rooms were great, very clean and modern with great laminate flooring. Beds were not the greatest but what do you expect when you stay at a lower budget hotel. We had problems getting our tv to work properly when we first arrived and the front desk agent was very quick to fix the problem. I'd say the price I paid to stay was very reasonable for the amenities offered and the service i received. They no longer offered the continental breakfast due to policy issues but they did give us 2 free breakfast coupons for the nearby mcdonalds, which was a nice treat. The pet policy here is great too, no extra charge to bring your furry friend. :) I will definitely return to this hotel in the near future and recommend to all my friends and family!

And what you pay for is a very clean, beautifully designed room close to the highway for easy access and very friendly staff as well. Is it luxurious? No, but then you're not paying for luxury. What most people want when they travel is a clean, quiet, modern (as in new) room with no dirty old carpets on the floor. The design and presentation of this hotel was simple yet very attractive. Kudos to the designer for utilizing all of the space well and also for maintaining the clean lines throughout this motel. We loved the flooring which, although not the expensive hardwood but a less expensive laminate, was a wonderful and smart choice. So much easier to keep clean and will be easy to maintain even replacement of worn areas will be relatively simple.

Room Tip: Have allergies? This is a great place to stay!
