“Amazing day”
Reviewed June 9, 2014

We had a great time at Birds Hill's beach. At this time of the year, it is not too crowded so there was space to play sports such as volleyball and soccer. The water was really great, there is no seaweed. However, the food is expensive (4$ for a hotdog). We suggest bringing some snacks instead of buying your food there. It is also a nice place to walk around and to spend time with your family. There are many trails where you can walk and ride bicycle.

“A great park, not so much beach”
Reviewed January 27, 2014

IF you can't make it out to Grand Beach, uh.. well depending if you're going to the beach or not this could work. I wouldn't really swim in the water at Birds Hill, it is really gross and people/animals often get rashes going in there. So, go the extra 30 minutes to Grand Beach if you're wanting to go swimming, or do anything else on the water.. this is basically a man made pond for young families.
As for the park itself, very nice! There are many trails to get lost on year round. The park welcomes horse owners, snowmobilers, skiiers, bikers, rollerbladers, walkers, you name it! There are beautiful trails through trees and forest, around the so called lake, or around the park on the pavement. There are many picnic areas, campgrounds and even little historical sights.
Everything is very nice, except for the lake of course. But if you're looking to get away from the city, and get some fresh air, this is definitely a great choice.

“Nice place to spend the day”
Reviewed October 27, 2013

Birds Hill Provincial Park is only 20 minutes north of Winnipeg, but is a huge expanse of calm recreation. It's known for the Winnipeg Folk Festival, which is held every July; 2013 marked the 40th anniversary.

Birds Hill has extensive camp sites and walking trails. They have a small, man-made beach, perfect for families with small children. Lots of open spaces, too. But the best part is the riding stable. For only $23.00, you can have an hour trail ride! That's cheaper than cheap! Plus, of course, the $5.00 day use fee.

If you want an afternoon in beautiful prairie setting, but don't want to travel far, this park is perfect for an entire day of activities. Remember to bring insect repellent!

“Beautiful Camp Grounds”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

Staying in a campsite that is roomy, for the most part private...but best of all reasonable. This park has all the amenities you need for a pleasurable stay.

“Summer or winter, this the place to be for fresh air!”
Reviewed July 25, 2013

Such a short drive from winnipeg...we enjoy ourselves every time. We buy a season's pass and get excellent value year after year.

Family friendly yes, well maintained, mostly (cutbacks do show )

The beach area is popular, horse rides, cycle paths, excellent winter x/c trails. Snacks available within park gates and full menu restaurant and gift shop available just outside south park by walking pathway.

And the birds and plants. So many little ecosystems you can't do them all in one day.

During the week is especially nice...go now. You will enjoy it.
