No, this is not a new title for a Stephen King novel!
It had been a while since we visited the Boathouse and we wanted to wait until the Landry's acquisition had been completed. So we tried the Boathouse White Rock again last week. What a disaster! We decided to split some items from the menu, an order of calamari, an order of halibut & chips and a ceasar salad. Plus a bottle of wine.
We asked for all the food to be served at the same time as we wanted to share everything. The calamari was served first and was completely burned to a crisp. Immediately came the salad, totally drenched in dressing. Then the halibut, which was not only a very small portion, but as burned as the calamari. So we sent back the calamari and halibut. We figured we could scrape off the dressing, so kept the salad. Thank goodness the wine was fine.
After waiting a while we were served the calamari and halibut. This time the calamari was undercooked and the halibut wasn't halibut, it was cod.
The server, who was in training, offered to ask the Manager to come over and after a considerable wait she arrived. She comp'd the food, but didn't seem too aware we were pretty unhappy. She said she would ask the executive chef to contact me the next day. I didn't receive the call!
Obviously there are still many wrinkles to be ironed out since the acquisition!
