We booked this place yesterday, they said we could not get in till after 9.00pm, OK we will wait, But OMG from the outset the lady that greeted us at the door remebered our names from the previous night (That was Good) we were seated and Adrieanne was our waitress, We had the most fantastic meal I have had for a very long time, service was perfect at every step, I can not fault the food or the waitress staff, here, fully recommend dinning here, Thanks Adrrieanne you made our trip in Whistler :-)

We booked Araxi before arriving in Whistler based on reviews and were not disappointed. They have a great seasonal menu with a variety of meat, seafood and vegetarian dishes - including a separate vegetarian menu.

The food was beautifully presented and colourful. I had a Wild salmon dish with a variety of other items on the plate that almost made a rainbow.

Cocktails were good and strong and an excellent wine selection. The Black Forest mouse cake for dessert was one of best things I've ever tasted.

Service was fast, friendly and attentive. Even though out waitress appeared to be quite new. Great atmosphere inside and outside the restaurant in its central location in the village.

The food was lovely, we sat outside and watched the world go by. Staff charming, but our food took over 1 hour from ordering to arriving.

We have dined at Araxi 3 times in the past 5 years, always on our anniversary. We have yet to be disappointed in this restaurant as one of Whistler's best.

We called on short notice and luckily Araxi was able to accommodate us for a 9 pm seating. We arrived at 8:30 and planned to sit at the bar for a cocktail. We were taken in immediately and seated at the bar but within a couple minutes, the hostess returned to say she had a table on the patio that we could take right away. It was a warm evening with lots of people wandering through the village so we took the offering and sat down.

We were met by our server almost immediately who got us started with a drink menu and wine list along with the dinner menu. A few minutes later, our server returned to take our cocktail orders while we perused the dinner menu.

Just as we had decided on our dinner choices, our drinks arrived at the table. This was the way the entire evening rolled along. Our server seemed to always know when to drop by to check in and make sure everything was just as it should be. What a treat to have such attentive service.

Torn on what to order for wine, we asked for the sommelier to provide a bit of guidance. Araxi's wine list is extensive with a broad number of selections ranging from $50 to $1,500 and more. The sommelier arrived within a minute or two to help us out. I suggested our desired price point and type of grape that we typically reach for. Remarkably, his suggestion was below our price point, but he assured us it was an excellent bottle of wine from a region in BC little-known for it's wine which made for an excellent value. We went with his advice and minutes later he returned with the proper stemware and a carafe to get the wine breathing.

For dinner, I ordered the 6 oz tenderloin rare and my wife ordered fresh grilled BC salmon. I had an appetizer of fresh BC sockeye sashimi and my wife the tomato soup. Presentation was beautiful and the taste was unbelievably fresh and flavourful. I could have cut my steak with a spoon and my wife's salmon was so perfectly cooked it set both of us back into our chairs wondering if it could have been cooked more perfectly. The wine paired beautifully with both of our dishes. Again, we exchanged comments about how glad we were to have changed restaurants at the last minute.

For dessert, we shared a chocolate Grenache lava cake which oozed chocolate lava as we carved into it. It was garnished beautifully with fresh seasonal raspberries. As a final touch, knowing it was our anniversary, the server brought out a sampling of house made desserts on a plate decorated with 'Happy Anniversary' in chocolate sauce.

Again, Araxi was incredible. On this occasion, the bill ended up close to $150 per person with a cocktail each, two appetizers, two entrees, a shared dessert and bottle of wine ($60). And while some may consider the price-point to be high, it's evident with the quality of food and attention to service and detail why this restaurant belongs in the upper-eschelon of dining establishments anywhere in the province. It is the experience you pay for so it's best to set aside the prices on the menu for the night and enjoy the food and atmosphere.

We will look forward to the next time we have the opportunity to take in the Araxi experience.

Araxi has always been a highlight of our visits to whistler. On our recent visit with friends from Seattle we went as we were celebrating a birthday. The ambience is beautiful, the service good but we were disappointed as our soup was luke warm. We mentioned it to the server and he took it back and he returned with lovely hot soup. Our main dish was the halibut which also turned out to be luke warm. Rather than send it back we decided to talk to the manager and to our surprise no accommodation was offered and we left feeling disappointed in our favourite restaurant. We will think twice about returning.
