Where to begin……After a two hour ride from the Vancouver airport, stuffed into the back seat our “midsize” SUV, suitcases, backpacks, and snowboards to the right of us and even more suitcases behind our heads and falling onto us with each “right turn” we finally pulled in to Arrowhead Point #19. Skipping our planned stop at the store for snacks and beverages, we arrived just in time to turn on the TV and catch the Super Bowl Half-Time Show. I cannot tell you how relieved I was to see the bottle of wine waiting for me on the kitchen counter with a hand written note from Tanya welcoming us to the condo. One bottle of wine, four people, that wasn’t going to do it…. Opened the directory located on the dining table and immediately found pizza delivery. In a matter of minutes all four of us were sprawled out on the couch in front of the fire, watching our beloved Broncos lose. No matter, we had found our heaven for the next four days and nights.
The condo is beautiful, spotless and well appointed, excellent wifi reception, high quality bed linens and towels, a washer and dryer, well stocked kitchen for cooking and serving full meals, luxurious showers, and oh my goodness…heated bathroom floors! In addition to the fabulous amenities inside the condo there is also a very large heated (a wonderful warm welcome when the temps are -11) mudroom with multiple coat hooks, ski racks, cubby holes and a bench for donning your boots. Plenty of storage for the clothing, skis, snowboards and accessories of multiple people. A few minutes walk up the road gets you to a short trail which leads straight to Merlin’s Run on Blackcomb Mountain. From here, simply click on your skis or hop on your snowboard and head right down to the Blackcomb Daylodge area where you can catch the Wizard Express back up the mountain or grab a hot cocoa, a meal, an adult beverage, or forgotten winter apparel, or in our case the apparel you never owned because you have never experienced such temperatures!
If you prefer, you can drive into the Upper Village or Whistler Village for dining and shopping or take the free shuttle. There is a shuttle stop located a few minutes walk up to the Sundial Resort. One afternoon we caught the shuttle in front of the Blackcomb Daylodge and rode it back to the condo, it was only a short wait, a comfortable warm ride, plenty of room for your skis and only took about 10 minutes.
