“Beautiful setting, but pricey, and food "iffy"”
Reviewed July 8, 2014

The terrace setting and view of Blackcomb mountain and terrace garden is beautiful and the service is great. We stopped in for lite lunch, I had the duck spring rolls (6) and wine, and my husband had the BBQ Brisket and beer. My husband's brisket was prepared wonderfully and the side of succotash was fresh and a prefect compliment to the bbq flavor. I wasn't as lucky with my duck spring rolls, which were more spring roll with almost no duck (really almost none). So I strong suggest avoiding the spring rolls and go with something where the meat is more visible.

I recommend it If you want a drink in a quite beautiful setting, but avoid the spring rolls.

The Mallard Lounge is in the Fairmont Hotel, so expect to pay the price.

“Pricey but delicious with atmosphere to boot”
Reviewed July 2, 2014 via mobile

Bf and I came here for a drink and a quick bite around 1030pm the day we came into whistler. The space itself is beautiful. We were able to sit by the fireplace and ordered drinks and finger foods. We live in Manhattan so weren't totally taken aback by the prices, but it's definitely expensive - $15 cocktails, $20 glasses of wine and the like. That said, I had a Bellini and he had a Pinot noir, both of which were delicious. For snacks he had a seafood chowder and we split the duo of dips and duck spring rolls. Everything was great and the pianist who was playing added to the atmosphere. Definitely recommended at least for a cocktail if you're feeling fancy.

“Disappointed the second time around”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

Had afternoon tea at the Mallard Lounge last May and enjoyed it that time. So, I told my mom and brother that I would bring them on my next trip to Whistler. So we had tea this afternoon. I will be honest, I just wanted tea to end so badly. Compared to last time, it was less welcoming and lacked the warmth from last time. Our server, Victoria was okay but as I said I felt less welcomed this time. Don't if It was because of the hot weather or because they were busy but atmosphere felt different and the food was just not enjoyable as before. Felt bad that I brought my mom and brother here this afternoon. If you decide to do tea at the Mallard Lounge, just do it once. No guarantees that it will be as good as your first time. In my case, I will probably never go back there for tea again. Just really disappointed this time.

“Waited for an hour for lunch”
Reviewed June 13, 2014

The service was quite poor and food took way to long to come out. (a couple of appetizers) and the food was mediocre at best. Very over priced which would be okay but with poor service and mediocre food, we would never come back. Walk down the way and visit milestones or one of the other bars near by. Much better
