Pros
Walking distance to village
Big pool, nice on sunny day

Cons
Old and in desperate need of renovations
Blood coloured huge stain on the carpet
Horrible bathroom lighting - bright and cold
Thin sheets and covers
All round unpleasant, badly decorated, cold rooms
Punch mark in walls

Could be a decent hotel if they do some renovations. Our room was so terrible that we ended up sleeping on a friend's couch

We come to Whistler every year at Xmas time for an annual family ski vacation. Each year, I book the most reasonable two bedroom suite that is in Whistler village. This year it was the Tantalus lodge for the first time. My first impression was of the extremely competent and friendly staff. We pretty well had all that we needed. There were lockers for our skis. For me it was a relatively short walk to the lifts, however my husband opted to take the shuttle if it was available at the time we were leaving/returning. This is the closest we have stayed to the lifts but I found the location a little bit of a hike to everything else. We are used to staying close to the Marketplace. The rooms were very clean. However there were numerous small problems such as no plug for the sink, a can opener that didn't work and the racks in the dishwasher were broken. It was a change from the condos we normally stay at in that there was no DVD player - just access to more expensive movies and there was a charge for telephone calls. It might have been our location in the lodge and perhaps bad timing - but we were kept up many nights for one reason or another. Noisy people walking in from the parking garage at 3 am, a false fire alarm with fire trucks attending one night and snow clearing equipment. All in all given Whistler prices this was incredibly good value for the price even with the minor inconveniences.

We stayed at the Tantalus Lodge on the spur of the moment. We made the arrangments through the Central Whistler booking number after spending the day in Whistler. It was very inexpensive, but the suite was beautiful! Full kitchen, dishwasher, and a porch looking directly at the mountain! The staff was very friendly, and the pool and hot tubs were clean and just the right temperatures. The only problem was the bed - it was very uncomfortable (lumpy and hard), there was very little bedding and pillows, and the sheets were not soft or comfy. We also had the housekeeper walk into our room at 9:30 in the morning - it was a little akward! You also have to pay $16.00 for parking, but it's in a secured underground lot. Great place - will probably stay again next summer!

The welcoming lobby has high beamed ceiling and rock fireplace. Check-in was efficient. The halls are tired. The rooms are two bedroom full suites with balcony, fireplace, micro, flat screen, kitchen, wall safe etc. They are two bedroom condos with some owners locking out a bedroom and bathroom. The walk to town is under 10 minutes. The rooms are dated but totally adequate. There is an outdoor pool and hot tubs. It isn't the Westin next door, but at $85/night it was more than OK. Wireless was $4.95/24 hours. There is no restaurant or bar but some vending machines for coffee and snacks.

Booked with Blue Air Miles. I only needed one bedroom, but was booked into a two bedroom, two bathroom rather tawdry suite. Their suggested price was $180/night, plus taxes, plus $16 parking (outside). If I wanted internet, there was an additional charge. The halls were worn, and most of the insuite furniture was old, dated and in mediocre condition. The fireplace required a $4 presto log, should a fire be needed.

We stay at all types of accomodations from luxury to budget and are not particularly picky. The rooms here were very dirty. The bath towels had dirt and smudges on them; it looked like perhaps the staff had re-folded some used towels rather than replace them with fresh ones for the new guests. Paint was peeling in various locations throughout the rooms---a much smaller complaint compared to the overall dirtiness, but still. The kitchen, and therefore the adjoining dining/living area had a peculiar, unpleasant odor.

The location is in no way a "three minute walk" from the slopes, not even for athletic, energetic people. The walk is uphill, and can't be done in ski boots with or without gear. I would not stay here again, regardless of the price.

I stayed here with a group of friends (in our 30s) and had the best time. The location is perfect. Less than 5 minutes walk from the village centre and lifts, but in a quieter location (I've stayed on the village stroll before and was kept up at night by drunken idiots pouring out of the bars and hollering round the village!). It also has a great sized pool (rather than some teeny weeny ones like in some other properties).

The rooms themselves have recently been renovated and are really nice and very clean. They are also a great size compared to other condos we've been to.

It's also a relatively small property - so not hundreds and hundreds of rooms.

I would definitely reccommend this hotel and would definitely go back again!
