Two mountains; lots of runs; great food options on the mountain; plenty to do on non-ski days, great Village life; friendly people everywhere!

Not quite what I had been expecting. Typical Intrawest purpose built resort. Straight out of an Architects Box. The ski area is good, plenty of variety, and when the snow is good I'll assume it's awesome. Back bowls good, some nice tree skiing, but cant see what the fuss is about? What did bug me was the lift system. Old, slow, and low capacity or what? Magic carpets! detached high speed drop top six an eights? No. Even some of the smaller resorts in Europe stand way above the mechanical uplift systems in Whistler. No fast lines, just twenty year old fours, even at the key positions, and all the queuing that comes as part of the lack of investment. On a Saturday morning in early January, we gave up! Well over an hour and a half, and a line that ran right round town. Wake up Whistler! Put some money back in!
Plenty of nice bars, restaurants and hotels, with friendly staff. Worth a visit, but take a deckchair!
