This is a great way to try Heli-skiing without booking an all-inclusive, very expensive, heli-only trip. The guides were very knowledgable and clear in their directions and yet still managed to be fun. The pilots were incredible and the experience could not have been better. Thanks to Steve, Dale and the entire Wistler heli team for two great days (Feb 26-27)!!!! Hope to see you again!

I booked a days heli-boarding with Whistler Heli-skiing and I cannot recommend it highly enough. From the professional staff to the high quality equipment, the setup they have running is first class. Safety aspects of the day were well explained and although you are made aware of the dangers it is obvious that every guide is experienced and doing everything possible to make the day both safe and enjoyable. Add to that a varied and tasty mountain lunch. I was lucky enough to get a great day of fresh snow and sunshine but I'm pretty sure that with their experience the pilots and guides can find a good days worth of snow in the extensive area they cover. The only down side is the cost however when you look at what is provided for you it does offer value for money.

If you are an average skier and have never been in a helicopter before you might want to spend all those dollars for a nice mountain experince.

But, if you are an expert skier looking for steep powder, look somewhere else. Me and my friends are all excellent skiers and were extremly disappointed with what we got out of the day. The avalanche conditions were good, but still all our 4 runs went in very gentle terrain. To me, it seemed like the guide was just being too cautious. The high expectations we got at their office were not met on the mountains.

Afterall, the poor skiing we got out of it was not worth the price at all.

Hello Freke2012,

March 2011 was characterized by a relentless series of storms that deposited a 315cm blanket of fresh powder over our terrain, which resulted in some challenging flying and guiding conditions. Our goal is to provide our guests with the best back country powder skiing experience again and again and in doing so, your safety is our number one concern at all times.

Our professional team of highly qualified guides prides themselves on their ability to bring together the mountains of information about current and past weather, snow pack stability reports and historical probabilities and mix them with in-field data collection and their years of experience to make a terrain selection that delivers the best powder turns possible.

Our store staff always attempts to paint a clear picture of the conditions that our groups are encountering from day to day. We also have photographers and videographers that go along with our Classic and Elite Adventure tours to capture photos and video from each day which we then play on the TV's in our store because we believe that a picture/video speaks a thousand words.

We at Whistler Heli-skiing would like to extend a heart-felt apology to you for our inability to match your expectations with your experience. We are all passionate about the experience we deliver and believe that every one of our guests should leave with a smile after an amazing day that will be a highlight of their visit to Whistler.

A group of five of us from Australia went on the Ultimate Excursion, 6 runs in our own helicopter. It was quite simply the best day's skiing we have ever had. Thigh deep powder, huge glacier bowls and incredible views. Many people will baulk at the cost; however you will not regret spending a cent of it! If you love skiing then Whistler Heliskiing must be on your bucket list!
