I intended to do 2 days of mogul clinic this spring but ended up doing 3 because it was such a great experience. At the beginning, I couldn't put together more than 4 or 5 moguls before spinning out. But now I can go top to bottom and find myself seeking out the bumps wherever I can! A complete change!!! John and Tami were just brilliant coaches, both in terms of giving us the techniques and then inspiring us to go for it. Top, top course.

I have attended both the Spring and Summer Camps in Momentum since 2002 and I can say nothing else compares to the training you will get here. Before I started the camp, I only took regular lessons from even some of the best instructors in many ski areas only to realize that I was wasting my time and money as I could no longer improve. Not so for the instructors here. All of them had competed at the highest level, including Olympic medalists. Now, even after 10 yrs, I felt like I have only learned 10% of what they have to teach!

This was simply the best ski coaching our children have ever had (10 years and 8 years). They joined in with children from Canada and the UK and were taught by enthusiastic professionals John Smart and Tammy Bradley. The sessions are professional but fun. We talked to some adults also on the camp who said it was fantastic, they appeared to come back year after year to ski with Momentum. Absolutely excellent and would recommend to anyone.

For me, mogul skiing is the most interesting and exciting sport to watch, so it should come as no surprise that the tuition provided by Momentum is a mainstay in my holiday planning and has been for the last 13 years.

I've attended both the summer camps and spring clinics and they offer different experiences based around the constant ethos of learning the world cup technique of skiing the zipper line from the best skiers in the world. Competitors from the World Cup, most of whom compete in the Olympics are your teachers, and they rotate groups on a daily basis to ensure that all clients receive the benefit of different approaches and styles of interaction.

Spring clinics use the natural moguls found across both Whistler and Blackcomb and whilst the technique used is the same as competition skiing, there is also focus here of choosing your line and mixing up turns depending on the terrain. This provides the invaluable skill of skiing bumps on your holiday where the moguls aren't perfectly formed for competition.

Summer camp is all about skiing a competition style course, but don't be fooled that everyone here is a competitor. The camp, especially the adult only week, is all about the skiing and socialising and most people who attend are those wanting to improve their skills yet will never put on a team bib. The tuition is always enthusiastic, technical, friendly and insightful and is matched to different personalities and learning approaches. There are those campers who need intricate analysis whilst others are more about feel. The coaches have all needs covered, and therefore all members of a group of campers with differing requirements to understanding the techniques are all catered for. Let's be clear - the coaches aren't skiers with an attitude and ego. They are approachable, love seeing the improvement in their groups and are as likely to be seen sharing a beer with you in the evening as they are shredding the bumps during the day.

The flat slopes are used to illustrate techniques and skills that translate into the moguls. Its a little frustrating to begin with that these can highlight deficiencies in your daily skiing technique, but that's the point. You're here to improve and that's what these drills are for. When you migrate into the bumps, its easy to then apply your newly found knowledge.

The video analysis is invaluable and really shows where the positives can be seen in everyone's skiing. This also allows each camper to understand their areas for improvement in a way that makes sense. Its all about positive criticism and motivation here......you're learning to ski those slopes on the mountain that most people stay away from because there's skill involved and they're normally under a lift...!!

Everyone that attends sees their ability level increase over the week, and the videos are then with you as a reminder for the start of the following season. I've formed great friendships with coaches and campers alike and the inspiration aspect of skiing with the coaches does leave me both a little starstruck and excited every time I go.....and I'm now way too old to be so gushing!!

John Smart has rightly concentrated on the balance of using the best skiers/coaches with an informal camp atmosphere. Clearly, I highly recommend this to anyone who wants their bump skiing to improve, and benefits will undoubtedly be seen in other areas of skiing too.

To sum up, Momentum camps are akin to attending a course where David Beckham teaches you how to execute the perfect free kick, or Michael Jordan spends the day showing you how to make the perfect 3-point shot. Then you do it all again the next day with another sporting icon, having spent time watching your video session and perhaps downing a few beers with the skiing elite.

Oh, and if you want to learn some new school tricks, well, check out the Momentum freeride camps taught by X-Games champions of both park and pipe!! The same mentality to picking the best coaches applies.....how can you not be inspired?

I'm hooked!!! I've always watched from the lifts as skiers gracefully danced their way through endless moguls, but could not piece the theory together myself.
I have just completed a 3 day course with Momentum and feel I now have all the tools necessary to enjoy rather than fight the bumps.
The course has also benefited my on piste skiing as a result of the tuition I received.
To top it all, the coaches are great fun and extremely motivating.
