I chose this hotel because of the good reviews on tripadvisor, the location, the price and the free parking coupon. No complaints here. The location was great being very close to the village. The staff were very friendly when checking in and out.

Our room was very nice and modern and everything looked new and clean. One thing I won't forget about the Aava was the toilet. It was the most powerful toilet I've ever experienced at a hotel. You barely touched the handle and whhooooooosh everything was gone. Haha...it was great.

I would definitely recommend this hotel.

For the price and location this hotel cannot be beat. What it lacks in bells and whistles it makes up for in location, modern design and cost. It is literally a 5 minute walk without ski boots and a 10 minute walk with ski boots to the Whistler ski slopes. The rooms are all very nicely appointed, comfortable and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. The underground parking is easy to get to. The hotel does not have a bar or a restaurant so you have to travel out for all of your meals but that is not a big deal because you are just a 30 second walk from the heart of Whistler. What the hotel does have that ever ski resort hotel must is a sauna, heated pool and a hot tub. At a $100 a night in this town you are not going to find a better hotel.

We stayed three nights at Aava first week of August, choosing it after seeing the good reviews here. Well, everything (good) that Tripadvisors are saying is true. The value, location, facility, staff and rooms were truly wonderful and completely satisfying. Our first visit to Whistler, we were putting our faith in the reviews and, yes, our friends here proved reliable.

The location is perfect, you are near everything, yet on the edge of town. The bed was delightful, so comfortable. Everything was neat, clean and appealing. Really nice staff who helped us personally twice, making our trip nicer.

The only drawback could be that in the rooms with vaulted ceiling there is no shade at the top window, so morning light comes in. But, the bed was so comfortable, we slept fine anyway.

Great lunch at Alta Bistro, taste superb food for lunch prices.

The native peoples museum is a must see for culture and art lovers.

We went bike riding on trail that circles the town. One of the best days ever. Saw a bear near the river. Bears are like dogs around this town.

The last morning we had breakfast at Westin across the street. Wow. We were the only ones there at first in mid week, so we had two chiefs to ourselves for a splendid buffet (pricy, but way worth it for the views and quality of food). Don't need to stay at the Westin to enjoy it.

We booked directly at Aava and actually got a better deal than by Orbitz was quoting me.

Room Tip: Rent a bike. It is gorgeous trail, mostly easy and was one of the best things we did on this trip.

The Aava is ideally situated for a walk into Whistler Village. The staff are friendly and very helpful. My bed was extremely comfortable and the room well maintained and cleaned daily. The facilities are lovely, even the small pool and hot tub, where we had some interesting conversations with other guests! My only problem was having a noisy couple above me on my first night's stay.

Room Tip: It would be better to choose a room on the top floor, if possible, to avoid having noisy folk above.

Don't pay any attention to the whingers with the low ratings. The service and facilities are more than adequate for a 3 star and the service is great. I spent three nights on a business solo trip but would bring my wife here in a minute, although she might find the bathroom a bit small in the regular room. Everything worked. Clean and comfortable, it does not offer 5 star services like full business centre but you should already know that. In fact my room at the 5 star Sutton in Vancouver was no better. The extra stars got me the big lobby and restaurant etc.

This place is great as are the staff who were always helpful.

You should also know it's proximity to lifts etc. with a simple map quest. And after all, it's only five minutes walking from one end of the village to the other. Some complained about noise, which I did not experience. I suspect this low-cost choice is popular with energetic young skiers, bikers and climbers as it should be. The centre of this resort area is HIGHLY popular. You can't be in the middle of the action and expect to hear the loons at night (real ones that is).

My only gripe is the computers they have in the lobby, which appear to be set up by a third-party provider, are not standard (no MS Office). However the admin staff quickly obliged my printing request at once at no cost and with a smile.

We spent 4 nights at this hotel from Thurs to Monday.

We arrived at around 4pm on Thursday. Checked in was overwhelming for the Front of House Staff. There was only one person working and she was on the phone arranging for some activity; 2 couples were waiting for over 10 minutes and she just continued on the phone, finally after 15 minutes of waiting; she reached over to the other counter and pressed a button to call someone from the back office to come out. We all wonder why she couldn't have done that 10 minutes earlier. All the while, she never made eye contact with anyone that was waiting.

We requested a room closer to the elevator as there were others commenting the WiFi might be touchy. There was signs posted in the very slow elevator to review this hotel on TripAdvisor.

We had Room #252 - one of the bigger rooms on the second floor, it is a corner room and it faced the driveway but it was fine as we keep the blinds closed. We had friends that is on the same floor and their rooms were much smaller.

Our Wifi was good, our friends' connection was hit and miss.

This room has a Fireplace and King Size Bed. There was a small fridge also in the room. 2 robes was provided for our use.

The design of this room is simple modern, the only downside is that the carpet was shaggy and dirty, there was some gritty stuff stuck in it and you can feel it with your socks on.

The decor pillow on the bed was put on the floor by the cleaning staff one day and then back on our bed with our pillows the next; it was dirty and the fabric is nubby and you can see the stains from someone drooling on it.

Bed was comfortable, housekeeping for the Friday and Saturday did a good job replacing the towels and putting everything like it was the first day, but they did not make the bed back properly. Sunday housekeeping did not put do such a good job in the bathroom but did take the time to make the bed. However, I don't think they ever vacuum the carpet. The bathroom floor was clean.

We used the gym and the air was stale in there as you cannot open the window and the thermostat to turn on the AC is locked. There was a fan there but you have to use a weight to prop the door open to get some airflow.

The Universal Gym was in pieces and not enough room to move around. The chart to use the different position for the gym is tacked 10 feet away on the wall not even closed to the equipment.

We tried to use the pool before dinner, there was no spare towels by the poolside. No one came when we inform the front lobby staff to bring more towels.

We noticed there were lockers in the parkade area for your skis in the winter.

This is a comfortable hotel for the price and convenience but still need some better trained staff and consistent quality control.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms closest to centre of hotel so you can have better Wifi coverage.

We stayed at the Aava this summer and found the staff helpful and the room clean and up to standard. The room was a little small but other than that was great. The price was good and location quiet. Its only a few minutes walk to the main village. We would stay here again should we visit Whistler again.
