Description: Locally inspired cuisine set in a casual bistro atmosphere. Chef Nicholas Cassettari combines his classic training, top tier experience, and world travels with the best of B.C.'S bounty to create the fine flavours at Alta Bistro. Service is casual and prompt in the dining room and bar. The wine list is French focused, with the best of B.C. As well as international selections (many by the glass) with Enomatic machines dispensing fine and eclectic selections to pair with Alta's cuisine. Mixologists behind our bar craft some of Whistler's finest cocktails. The cozy bistro atmosphere is lively and welcoming. Reservations are a must.

French inspired food, a little pricey but very well done. Staff seems to know the food and wine well and can give advice. Located in The Pinnacle Hotel, just adjacent to the Village Stroll and public library.
I will definitely eat there again next year.

Want pretentious? Try somewhere else. Want a great dining experience? Here it is. I don't understand the negative reviews of this place; I guess some people value pretention more than quality. Food was great, service was friendly, love the - unpretentious - atmosphere, and wine list is strong (I'm loving BC wines). Don't hesitate to book a table at Alta.

Alta bistro is a great restaurant that you won't find in the whistler tourism guides. When we were there it was predominately locals, regulars and industry people, which is a great sign of a good restaurant.
Using very high quality ingredient the food was approachable and well prepared, portion sizes not leaving you hungry or too full and the dishes were delightfully presented. Take them up on their offer of a chef prepared 5 course tasting menu at $60 and half glass wine parings, you won't be disappointed and it is great value for money.

Somebody mentioned this place to us as they were leaving another whistler restaurant that we were checking out, but was fully booked due to the holiday season and being in whistler in general. Nothing to lose , so we walked went over to have a look. It was also booked but we managed to get a table by the door that maybe was a bit of an overload table but was still fine. We had oysters to start, which were among the best I've ever had. The meals were excellent, presentation wonderful, and everything was pretty much perfect. The service was great, and so were the staff. It was not a cheap meal, but I have found the best meals are not. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody as a must visit while on whistler.

Alta Bistro was recommended to us by a local on a previous visit and I remembered being very impressed with it then, so we made it a point of going again. Everything was delicious, and a bit unusual. They use local, organic produce to come up with innovative dishes, and even the garnish on my Ceasar was worth repeating: a piece of pickled sunchoke and a slice of artisan charcuterie. Don't miss!
