Description: Locally inspired cuisine set in a casual bistro atmosphere. Chef Nicholas Cassettari combines his classic training, top tier experience, and world travels with the best of B.C.'S bounty to create the fine flavours at Alta Bistro. Service is casual and prompt in the dining room and bar. The wine list is French focused, with the best of B.C. As well as international selections (many by the glass) with Enomatic machines dispensing fine and eclectic selections to pair with Alta's cuisine. Mixologists behind our bar craft some of Whistler's finest cocktails. The cozy bistro atmosphere is lively and welcoming. Reservations are a must.

“Great Tastes”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2013

Beautiful cooking and flavors. Venison was the best I've had in North America. Wine list a bit weak on mid priced California wines. Asking C$3 per person for unlimited Whistler tap water was a but naff but if you ask about it it disappears. Fully priced but the quality makes it a winner.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, and you comments on our food.

Our wine list is focused on local British Columbian and French wines that compliment our food. We do not attempt to have a large selection of Californian wines.

We do not charge for still purified water.
We charge $3 per person for unlimited purified sparkling water.
We will not remove this charge if you ask us to do so, and we are unsure how his happened.

Hoping to welcome you again next time you are in Whistler.

“Great food but spendy”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2013 via mobile

Food was fresh and very thoughtful but watch the "up selling" waiter was good at it. We do not mind spending for great meals just thought we were a cash machine for them... Nice people, good food but maybe a little full of themselves....

“Way over-priced for just ok food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2013

Service was good, food was good not great. With those prices you should walk away feeling like you had a great meal. There are lots of great restaurants up in Whistler. You can do better than this one and not feel like you have been taken advantage of!

“Still terrific, but less good value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 24, 2013

We are part-time Whistler residents and have made many visits to Alta Bistro since shortly after it opened. Until recently, this was a terrific value. Prix-fixe menus with nice choices meant a superb meal at reasonable prices (not cheap once you got bread, wine, choices with "supplement"). We went there this week and found that everything was a la carte with entree prices now at levels that formerly were for 2 or 3 courses. The food remains terrific, but priced out of levels where the value is terrific. I guess I'll have to go in low season.
Tuna parfait as an appetizer was spectacular--definitely go for it if it's on the menu.

“Alta Amazing!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 21, 2013 via mobile

This is our second visit to Whistler and Alta Bistro this year. Both visits to Alta Bistro have been thoroughly enjoyable. The focus on atmosphere based on creative cocktails, outstanding wine selection, and amazing food makes for a totally enjoyable evening. The service is a key part of the experience and I strongly recommend requesting wine suggestions from one of the owners, Eric. He has provided us with wine choices which I would expect to receive from a top notch sommelier in any high end restaurant around the world.....but without the attitude! We will always make Alta Bistro one of our top choices for dining at Whistler.
