“superb hostel, poor location”
Reviewed July 16, 2012 via mobile

i was really suprised by this hostel. the common area, especially the billard and entertainment rooms are the best common areas I have seen in any hostel on the world so far. rooms are pretty standard, bathrooms are spacious and look brand new. if you are skiing the location is a bit poor. there are busses running which is ok, but if you wanna go for drinks/party in Whistler it's kind of a pain to get back to the HI hostel. location is really the only downside. all the rest was brilliant.

I only stayed for 1 night to check out the place then leave to climb the Chief the next day. It looked super hip, it was really clean, and the front desk staff was helpful. I wish it was closer to Whistler Village and that there were more places around it to go to at night other than the village, but I can't complain because it was close enough for such a good price!

it certainly is a totally different hostel from all I have stayed at before! it is such a great idea for a good value accomodation in whistler and as far as I know it is the only hostel in the area. the cheapest pleace in the village is twice as expensive and you won't find kitchen facilities unless you stay in a pricy apartment. it is a bit far out but you can't have everything! kitchen is well equipped and big, dining and common areas are huge and there is enough space for everybody. bathroom is shared between 2 rooms only, beds VERY comfortable and you can adjust room temerature to your needs- how cool is that?? every area is sparkling clean. I will definately come back if I go to whistler again!

Room Tip: you can check bus times at the reception. they run a few times an hour, make sure you have exact amo...

Accommodation was fantastic, all areas very clean, great kitchen, lounge area could feel small if hostel busy.
No noise from corridor. Only 8 people sharing bathroom all female.

Would stay only if have a car 8 km for whistler village no nightlife near.

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback. I am happy to read you enjoyed your stay with us! Although we are out of the village, the bus system runs 2-3 times per hour and even more often in the winter.

We hope to see you again sometimes soon,

Thanks again,
Marc

This HI was built for the Olympics so its very new. Easily the nicest hostel I have stayed in. I was in a four person dorm. The seperate bathroom and shower were kept spotless the whole time we were there. The staff were friendly.
The place only has three downsides.
1 - Poor WIFI strength
2 - Distance from village (There is a bus though so no big deal)
3 - No oven in the kitchen. Given its size I would have thought an oven would be a must!
Alll in all pretty good. I would stay again for sure.

I heard about this hostel before going to stay there and it was even better than I expected. I stayed there by myself and unlike many hostels I have stayed in I noticed that there were many families staying there as well. This hostel is nicer than many hotels I have stayed in. It would be nice if there was a grocery or convenience store close by but understandably they can not control that. I am looking forward to going back and would recomend it to anyone looking for an affordable alternative.

This is a great new hostel that was built as athlete housing for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Beds in clean and quiet 4 person dorm rooms go for about $30 CAN per night. Great kitchen and common areas with a cafe on the main floor that does breakfast and lunch.

The hostel is a little ways outside of the Whistler town centre but is easily accessed by bus. There is a bus stop right outside the hostel with buses leaving every 20-30 minutes. The ride is less than 20 minutes. The buses run fairly late too, far later than I stay out with a full day of skiing or hiking to look forward to.
