I have to agree that the lobby could use some brighter lights. The parking spaces were very small for those of us driving an SUV. The front desk staff upon check-in was not helpful. Indifferent as stated in other reviews. However, Vanessa at the front desk was / is a sweetheart. Helped with directions, suggestions, tips, and split the cost of 2 rooms between two credit cards as requested upon check in (the indifferent staff said it couldn't be done!) Air Conditioner was loud, but at least it worked. Continental breakfast was adequate. Yogurt, cereal, muffins, hard boiled eggs. Location was good. Walked to everything.

Hotel is a great location towards the lift end of Whistler Village. So plenty of choice for restaurants etc. Room was a little on the small side. Breakfast was a bit of a bun fight and was slow to be replenished. Be aware of the cost of parking and that it may take 30mins to get your car out of the underground lot due to double parking.

We took a short trip to Whistler and booked our stay at the Best Western Hotel - the Listel. It was a very clean and attractive hotel with comfortable beds and included a complimentary continental breakfast. Parking underground was $18 per night but your vehicle is secured and parking in Whistler is scarce so it was worth the price. The downside to the room was that when the bathroom light was turned on, the very loud exhaust fan also came on. I like to leave a light on in the bathroom at night so I can see but the fan was so loud that we had to shut it off and leave the hall light on instead. One other issue was that the bath tub flooring is very slippery and it would be helpful and safer if there was a grab bar mounted inside the tub on the wall side.

Other that those 2 issues, it was an enjoyable stay and we would definitely stay there again.

Oh where do I start...
We were on a family vacation with our 2 kids - age 2 and 5 years. We were very excited going to Whistler.
Arriving at the hotel - the staff at the front desk was very unfriendly and unhappy. I am not sure because we are there or because they have to be there. They did not explain anything to us, we had to ask - how the parking works, where is the breakfast being served... Very poor welcome to start with.
The room - I open the door and was welcomed with a heavy muddy type smell. Oh well, we decided that we are on vacation and will not let something like this ruin it, so we open the window, unload our luggage and went out in the town. I want to mention that the carpet in the corridor going to the room was very dirty. The same was with the carpet in our room, not to tell you that no one has vacuumed under the table for a long time.
We came back to the room, the smell seems to be a bit better, so we moved on that night.
No air conditioning in the room???? I was confused with that place, it seems like I have booked us a stay at some one or two stars very old motel.
I have a poor night sleep because of the smell and I couldn't figure out where it was coming from. So on the next morning I spoke with the housekeeping lady on our floor and then asked the front desk for that smell as well. The girl was nice and reassured me that this is not usual and will have someone send to check on it.
We come back to the room after being out for 6-7 hours, the smell still was there. This time I was able to figure out where is coming from - from the shower curtains. This is disgusting, it means that who knows when was the last time this has been washed or changed. It is quite sad that we stay at that hotel with our kids and for sure we are not staying there ever again as well as any of our friends.
The breakfast - this was quite funny as well, watching the hungry employees pouring crunchy serial from the bags in their bows and eating it, while we have to pour ours from the cereal dispenser were it was not crunchy because of humidity. Overall hungry staff at the hotel. The fruit yogurt that they have I have no idea what was wrong but my husband had this rash after eating it, so this was another "pleasant" experience for us. And just because this all wasn't enough we all got sick when we got home, thanks to the stinky hotel that we stay at and for which we pay $180/night, simply amazing.
It is supposed to be a valley parking at the hotel - it is only when you are arriving :) when you are leaving no one cares about you.

So I believe the 'Listel' is one of the older hotels in Whistler. Our room still had the faint lingering smell of a smoker (not too bad). Tried to get a face cloth, which was not in the room when we checked in, had to go get one from a maid trveling down the hall, because they never did bring one to us. We were out for over 4 hours the next day and when we returned the room was still not made up. The next morning, the maids were cleaning other rooms and letting the doors bang shut as they went, OK fair enough they were cleaning the rooms, but this was a 7:00 am when most people are trying to sleep.
On the plus side, it was one of the less expensive rooms in town (with obvious reason) and it was close to everything, but then they all are in Whistler. By all means visit whistler, gorgeous village, but try a different hotel.

For an overnight stay, this is a very good place to stay. We were very happy with the quality of the room. The room is air conditioned. The bed is very comfortable. The location is at the very heart of the Whistler village. I would recommend this hotel for an overnight accomodation.
