“Great place to stay for skiing and bars/restaurants!”
Reviewed March 20, 2010

Booked this through the Whistler/Blackcomb website, last minute deal. Ended up here in the upper village, EXCELLENT location, right next to the ski slopes and quick walk to the village. Restaurant and bars close by. We staying in room 238. The room are individually owned, so there is likely some variation between standard and equipment (pots, pans etc), but our room was great. The bed was a sofa pull-out, but was very comfortable, no complaints. TV and stereo ok as well. The gas fireplace was a nice touch, and very warm! We cooked in one day, and as long as you keep the heat down, you'll be ok. Don't forget to turn on the fan... Can highly recommend it for a great time in the mountains! Only complaint we had was a non-negotiable 10am checkout, not cool... (especially on the day we changed to daylight saving..). But great, location location location! :)

Suite 101....

The suite was one of the non-renovated suites. The suite location is great, steps from the hot tub and pool. Our fridge unfortunately was not working during our stay which we didn't realize until it was to late. The murphy and sofa bed were not very comfy.

The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly.

The suite is located across from the a bar and the hallway can be noise if going to sleep early.

Room as described if not better. Be careful with the studio rooms as the sofa is the bed, albeit a good sofa bed. Full and well equipped kitchen. Gas fire makes it very cosy. Free Internet. We stayed in 218 which is right above the Fitzsimmons Bar so expect noise. Walls in most of the places in Whistler are paper thin so a set of ear plugs is recommended. Hot tubs very clean and not over crowded. Staff helpful and friendly. Less than 5 mins from Blackcomb base, and less than 10 from Whistler base and village bars/restaurants.

The place needs some major updating. The place is loud and the beds were the worst. It was sagging in the middle and very uncomfortable. We were there for a week and we never received any sort of cleaning or change of towels. We had to ask for some clean towels and when we inquired about the room service, the informed me that we will get one on our last day of our stay. However, we never got that either. Never again!

We have stay here twice.

It's perfectly located a couple of steps of Blackcomb, right in front of the Fairmont.

The suite was big, we were 4 and was perfect, except that they only have one bathroom!
Besides that everything else was very good.

We went with family members that always go to Whistler and they always chose Glacier Lodge. So I wouldn't think twice to recommend it.

We're here to ski. Great location at Blackcomb base across from the Fairmont Chateau Hotel. We loved the outdoor pool and hot tubs. Underground parking is $12 a day. Not much to the lobby and common areas, but the little that there is is nice. Front desk is very polite and helpful. I would rent skis from Spicy Sports. It is between Glacier Lodge and the chairlift, so you can drop off and pick up your skis there without having to carry them back to the hotel. Saves carrying them with little kids. We are in a privately owned condo #333. It is nice with lots of windows and pretty view.

We've just spent a wonderful 3 nights (Dec 30th -Jan 2nd) at Glacier Lodge and recommend it highly. Make sure to check on the web if they have the “stay two days, get the third night for free” special, which is common for Whistler. I say this because they will not offer this unless you ask for it specifically (a bit annoying). We were two couples and stayed in room #334 - which was a loft 1Bdrm. The bedroom had a King bed and the loft had 2 singles that our friends pushed together. The room was lovely, with the wonderful high ceilings that come with a loft room and a nicely appointed bathroom, living room and kitchen. It appears to be new or recently refurbished with granite countertops, double sink, decent selection of kitchenware (e.g. pots, dishes, knives), fireplace and a dining room table that seats six. There were plenty of towels and extra pillows/blankets. The couple of minor negatives (no can-opener, no working cable for the TV in the bedroom, no real view) did not detract from our stay. Being at the very end of the hall made for an extremely quiet stay, which was great. The front desk staff was helpful and solved our can-opener problem with a smile. We especially enjoyed the outdoor hot tub after a day of hitting the slopes.

The location was terrific- you could ski right to the lifts at Blackcomb and we either walked or took the free shuttle (1 minute walk from our door) to the main Village. There is a cold beer and wine store on the property, café / restaurant, a gourmet grocery store 2 minutes away, as well as a ski shop that will valet your skis overnight for a tune-up (for a minor fee, but still-darned convenient). There are also lots of other shops and stores nearby as well. We found out that even if you are down in the main Village and don't want to schlep back up to the bus loop, you can just catch the free Fairmont or Four Seasons shuttle buses (which stop frequently throughout the Village) right back up to 30 feet from our hotel entrance. Some people prefer to be in the heart of the village, but we really liked the peace and quiet where we were.

We had a wonderful dinner at La Rua Restaurant (in the Le Chamois Hotel) and highly recommend the caribou tenderloin (this was a special but they offer it frequently) and the grilled prawns. Our lunch at Milestones was also very good. Skip the high prices and miniscule portions at the Mallard lounge at the Fairmont.

All in all, we'd come back to Glacier Lodge in a heartbeat!
