“Disappointing.... Noisy Room with unpleasant view....”
Reviewed May 29, 2010

We wanted a get away for a few days and chose the Adera with the great offer they were advertising under Whistler Tourism @$79.00 per night for May/June. They didn't advertise the $20.00 nightly parking plus taxes applicable.
Sadly our room had no view and overlooked a restaurant patio area that was untidy and Buffalo Bills.
The room was clean and modestly furnished but adequate for our needs ( a comfy chair would have been beneficial).
Our disappointment was the sound from other rooms and we were also close to the elevator which could be heard operating. Sleep was interruped with sounds from Buffalo Bills below us into the early hours of the morning with music and patrons conversations underneath us.
Disappointing visit with the noise issues and the style of hotel was not to our satisfaction with no ammenities offered.
We will definitely review more throughly before considering specials offered in future planning getaways and consider personal needs along with quieter locations for our visits.

This self-proclaimed boutique hotel is just a quick walk to the Whistler/Blackcomb gondolas with valet parking only. It faces the convention center and borders Moe Joes and Buffalo Bills (source of noise). As you walk into the small lobby, you notice the cool, modern red couches and circular room. The lone front desk staff will greet you warmly, quickly check you in and collect your car keys and ski equipment for check in. The ski check is right next to the front desk, and I found it pretty convenient.

After reading the previous reviews, I requested a quiet room, however, we were upgraded from a two bed queen to a loft queen bedroom on the 3rd floor, which was pleasant. The elevator was pretty slow and took us to our floor. The elevator door was a bit cracked open at the bottom and I could see that it pretty old. It was at this moment I started seeing hints that this wasn't exactly 4 star. The room (315) faced the convention center and was in the middle of the corridor. Furnishings were modern, "Ikea-ish" but was a very clean room. I liked the free wi-fi, good-sized bathroom and spacious loft like accomodation. I didn't like the bed (sagged a lot in the middle and was marginally comfortable) or the noise from Buffalo Bills and Moe Joes. Despite the quiet room, I could still hear the club music in the main living room, but in the loft bedroom it wasn't as noticeable.

Adara is a nice hotel, but it really is an older hotel that was hastily furnished with modern touches but still has remnants of its past self (stair banister in the loft room). If I were the owners I'd invest in more sound proofing windows, better mattresses and flat screen TVs. It's definitely not a 4 star, but for the price, proximity to the lifts, and friendly service - I'd say it was pretty good. I would stay here again, but only if I paid around the $340 for the entire weekend.

My boyfriend and I stayed here Jan 2010. We were very disappointed, we did not think it should have been rated as a four star hotel and we did not think it was good value for money at all!...
We were not provided with items that were advertised on the web site, room was dusty, bed sheets were not changed during our stay, things in the room were starting to look cheap and nasty and there was a small leak by our back door, generally a poor finish throughout the room. We could even hear the next room's T.V and there was not enough space to dry ski gear. The only good thing about it was location, as it was in the centre of Whistler village, the staff were very friendly and we were provided with a lap top, as there was wireless in everyroom. However, for a four star hotel, this lacked this lacked quality and amenities you would have expected from a four star. The hallways were similar to a hostel and painted in dark grey and the not very luxourious at all.
There are lots of other hotels in Whistler, which I am sure would provide a satisfying stay and more value value for .

My wife and I stayed at the Adara during the Christmas holiday. I was expecting a really snazzy "Boutique" hotel, worthy of the $572 nightly rate. What we got was a rather ordinary hotel. The hallmark feature of the Adara is its modern decor, which seemed a little wierd to me. I guess if modern design is your thing, it might grab you. The hot tub was small and cramped. The lobby was attractive with a fireplace, but not the kind of place in which you'd like to hang out. The room was clean and comfortable (and modern), but it wasn't special. We had an "OK" view of the mountains. None of the rooms had a really great view. We were on the "Quiet side" of the building, but I understand that the rooms over the nightclub can be very noisy.

On the bright side, the location was great, just off the main village thoroughfare and a short walk to the lifts. The hotel staff was delightful. They could not have been more friendly and helpful. When we asked for our safe to be fixed (for some reason, it was not attached to the wall), it was taken care of immediately. There is nothing wrong with the Adara, but the pictures on the website look so much better than the real thing. I think this is a $350 hotel masquerading as a $572 hotel.

The location was fantastic and likely the main reason to stay at the Adara. We were steps away from top restaurants, and was able to wander throughout Whistler during the weekend without our car. And yes, the trade-off with being in the center of the village is noise. Buffalo Bill's is right below, so loud music until 2 a.m. and rowdy crowds pouring out until around 3 a.m. is to be expected.

If you're looking for a luxurious feel, then this is not the hotel for you. The room was clean, but minimal in decor; the bathroom was the same. Some elements of the room was awkward: the divider for the shower was insufficient so water splattered out to the rest of the washroom; the shower temperature was inconsistent; the room safe was placed on a small stool/table that could easily be removed from the room (which in my mind, rather defeats the purpose).

There are no additional amenities aside from a very small hot tub. Granted, a gym is easily accessible, and several restaurants surround the hotel, but it would be nice to have the option not to brave the cold. It may be time to give the hotel a facelift as well, as the elevator door does not shut completely and some rooms' doors have noticeable scratches and peeling paint.

As for service, the valet was particularly helpful and very accommodating; however, those at check-in did not seem to understand the concept of customer service very well. Answers were short and the impression I got, was that they would rather be somewhere else.

At the end of the stay, while it was pleasant enough, there was nothing that made me say, "Wow!"

The location is great (if you want to be in the village) and the staff are friendly and helpful. Some of the items in our loft-style room had seen better days (i.e. coffee table falling apart) but it was a quiet & restful stay for us. There are good toiletries provided (Fresh products) and the room was clean. I would stay here again.

When we checked out, we found out that there is a breakfast delivery option from a nearby restaurant. We wished we'd known about it while we were guests of the hotel, as nothing else is really open in the village for an early breakfast.

When I first saw the earplugs on the bedside, I thought it was for the noisy air conditioner. Then, I surmised it was for the fact that you can hear everything being said and done in the next room. Finally, with dread, I realized that you can hear the music playing clearly at Buffalo Bills below the hotel. Our room was directly over the club and back doors - not good if you need a nights sleep before doing activity.

If you party all night and go to bed at 3AM, this could be the hotel for you. But if you need a good nights rest, give this a pass.

Also, bit disappointed with the tatty reno's done. The paint job couldn't disguise the fact that the walls and doors were already damaged before the paint job. Also disappointed with the fact that our room's window was on someone else's patio. They could walk over and look right in our room (or come in the window if we had it open!). Not very secure.

Centrally located in the village, Adara Hotel is surrounded by some of Whistler's best-loved restaurants and most popular night life options. Although sometimes lively, Whistler Village is as world famous for its night life as it is for its skiing and riding.

The majority of our unique and stylish hotel is unaffected by the pulse of the village evening and there is restful sleep in abundance - on the most comfortable beds you have ever slept in! When booking directly, please advise of your preference for a quieter location if you are concerned.

We strive to ensure that all of our guests have a comfortable stay and a memorable Whistler visit. We regret that "bc_foodlover" did not have a pleasant experience with us.
