“Disappointment”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2012

Bought two nights at the Exeuctive Inn.. They told us that we were in the Mountainside Lodge. Of course, not knowing the town, this meant nothing to us. They should have told us that we were in a completely different hotel. I think that the Executive Inn owned or rented out all the rooms on the floor of another hotel. Once you checked in, it should have been fine, but our keyless entry magnetic strip car would NOT hold its ability to open the door. At one point I had two babies under 3 with me alone. I had to haul them back downstairs and down the street TWICE!!! I thought I was going to lose it. They were very apologetic and told me they would send someone the next day to look at the lock on the door. The maintenance man that they sent was completely useless. Of course his key worked.. all he would tell me was "slow.. slow... slow" It was so irritating. Does he think I didn't try every method possible rather than walking a block down the street TWICE with two babies! The room was very comfortable and the kitchen was complete with a dishwasher as well. Comfy bed.. once we got into the suite! Also, like the fact that we were in the centre of the Village. It put a damper on the holiday never knowing for sure whether we were going to get back into our suite.

Linens were clean and the bed was comfortable. We enjoyed people-watching from the small balcony. Room was small but adequate and well-supplied for making some meals. We found it difficult to locate the hotel and the front desk. Also difficult to find the parking. Everything is quite tightly packed into the Village so other hotels will likely be the same with regard to location and parking. Not a fancy hotel but we felt it was a pretty good value.

After reading a lot of negative reviews lately, I had low expectations going in, but was pleasantly proved wrong! I stayed at The Exective for two nights in August 2012 with a friend.

Great location, steps out onto Village Stroll.

Check in was quick and easy; check in is not until 4 pm but we were able to get in a 3 pm without a problem.

The room (village side loft) was cute, cozy and clean. Perfect for two people. I would not stay here with three, it would be too small and squishy, even though the couch is a pullout bed. Despite out deck facing Village Stroll, we never had issues at night with noise.

The kitchenette suited our needs well (microwave, coffee maker, kettle, mini fridge, stove, dishes etc). As mentioned in previous reviews, no oven. There is no proper eating area so be prepared to eat on the deck (lovely!) or on the couch. We did breakfast and snacks in and ate out the rest of the time, so this was not a problem for us. If you are staying several nights and plan on doing most of your meals in, this is not the hotel for you. I would recommend the Delta, which has great kitchens and eating areas for longer stays.

The bathroom was on the small side and awkward, as the door bumped into the toilet as you openned it, so you had to get around it.

I gave this hotel a three star instead of a four because the pool (which you have to access by crossing the road) was closed due to "maintenance issues" when we were there. We were still able to lounge and relax, but when it is so sunny and hot, not having access to a pool to cool off on was a disappointment.

I got a great deal staying here and would have no problems coming back in the future for a short stay.

This was a nice little place to stay. The kitchen(ette) was great to have, to be able to cook for oneself. There are two burners, a sink, a toaster, a kettle, and a microwave. Cleaning supplies are also available, as are pots and pans, dishes, all that stuff.

The loft bedroom was quite squished, with one side up against the wall. The person sleeping on that side may not have been so comfortable.

One small, but annoying quirk, is that the TV is posted on the wall slightly too high. You have to crane your neck in an eventually uncomfortable position to watch TV. I think this is just because it has to fit above the gas fireplace.

Air conditioning works really well, and there's a balcony to enjoy town views from.

This is a clean place, and the bathroom is really nice too.

Wireless internet costs $6 for a day, which is relatively cheap for a hotel but at the same time a rip-off. Wireless should be totally free in this day and age. Anyway, do not go to the Starbucks across the street for wireless, as it didn't work for me and the staff there were not helpful about it at all. Not a complaint about this hotel though! I paid the $6 for 24 hours and it worked great.

Stayed at one of the Montainside rooms with our 2 sons. Liked the idea of having a kitchen and loft bedroom but pictures are much better than actual room and finishing. A/C was leaking and we had a big puddle in the living room. We were told to "lift the unit" a bit, nobody even came to check it out. Carpet was totally soaked. Even with that, the A/C unit was extremely noisy and not efficient to cool the room, especially for us sleeping in the loft upstairs. Qtips left from previous guests on a legde. We were told housekeeping couldn't reach there, though we easily removed them with a broom (along with a lot of dust). Plus staff at the Mountainside Lodge are not responsible for the Executive rooms, so we had to cross the street or call for service. Room was not cleaned during our stay. Overall, will avoid staying there in the future.

My first impression of this hotel from its pictures and website was that it would be a great place to stay, with modern loft rooms and its great location it really had some appeal.

After check-in and arriving at the room I felt dissapointed, the finishing quality was poor, the room was unclean (used ear plugs under couch cushion, dirty dishes in cupboards, dirt on floor in kitchen area).

A few hours after arriving and paying I went down to the lobby to find out the location of the onsite pool - only at this point in time was I made aware the onsite pool was currently closed and would be the length of my stay. There was no mention of this at check-in or on the website.

There is plenty of choice when it comes to accomodation Whistler, and staying at the Executive Inn is definately a choice I would avoid making.

The positive first. It was clean and right in the village. A small kitchenette made it easy to save a few bucks on food.

The negative.
We had three people in the room (it was a loft room that had a bed upstairs and a pull out couch bed) and we wanted to go to the pool. The pool is not in the same building-you have to walk outside to another building through the back park of the village. The room came with two robes and they refused to give us a third one. They said it had just been a long weekend and had no extras since it wasn't laundry day. (poor planning skills) Later they said they only gave two robes per room no exceptions. We were already paying extra for a room that had the pull out bed. So to stay warm (it was a chilly summer day) i wrapped a blanket around me to get to the pool. (there was no changing area by the pool) Another bad part of the pool was that the pool cover was directly between the pool and the hot tub-so the parents couldnt sit in the hot tub and watch their kids swim because it was visually blocked by the pool cover.
The room was advertised as having a fireplace -but logs cost extra so we had to spend extra to use this feature. the front desk people were less than friendly when denying our requests for robes etc. We would not stay here again and would not recommend it to someone else.
