Actually didn't golf, but took the sleigh ride from here in February. Really fun for the family, amazing scenery.

I rounded out my play of Whistler's golf courses with two rounds at Nick North. We played late season and the weather was wet. I found the course to be a fun play with a great mix of holes some of which are burned into my memory. Even driving by the homes on the way in left a good impression. Fortunately the homes interspersed throughout the course are set well back and don't affect play. They also didn't affect the wilderness feel of the course as they really were near the lake portion of the course and not throughout.

The driving range is situated by the first tee. The halfway house is located after the tenth hole and there aren't many other opportunities to stock up. Although the course permits walking and is fairly flat (by mountain standards) I wouldn't recommend it as there are some long walks between holes. Notwithstanding that the flow of play was good even with a walker/marathoner in our group.

I saw a number of bears on this course as well as cameras. This is a testing but fair course with tees set for everyone...actually I was totally intimidated by the Championship Tees. I especially liked the par threes regardless of all the water.

We finished off on the patio where on one visit we saw another bear. I really enjoyed this course but there were two areas that were disappointing. Although we were greeted at the bag drop, the service thereafter was disappointing especially compared with what we had already experienced (see Chateau review). We enjoyed a meal before we played our first round (wifi available on request). The next round there was a total of one muffin for sale. We seldom saw a marshal although staff-members were frequently in evidence trying to address water issues. Our waitresses after the round were very helpful and friendly. However, on both occasions when we dropped our carts off there were no attendants to help offload or clean the clubs.

Secondly, the course could not handle the water. Pumps were running nonstop around the greens but some of the fairways had huge turf bubbles or pooled water. The greens were better but some had problem areas. The biggest difficulty was in the bunkers some of which were huge and in good conditions would have added a fun element. Unfortunately, many were unplayable. Wayward shots in the sand sometimes required a ball retriever.

For these reasons I would downgrade to very good.

We were pushed to find a nice venue for our Christmas dinner and our hotel recommended that we try the Christmas fondue at the golf club. To be honest we didn't have overly great expectations as we know of other places where a fondue can compose of some cheese and bread. However this was really excellent. We had a big variety of fresh meat, seafood and vegetables to be cooked in a vege broth. This was followed by a chocolate fondue with fruit.
We were very presently surprised by the quality of the food. The service was very friendly also.
The sleigh ride prior to dinner was ordinary so I wouldn't rush out to do that again but the dinner was great and provided a really good end to a very special white Christmas.

Golf course has fantastic views and is in good shape. Price did not include a cart. They also didn't provide any water (said they were trying to go green) Don't feel like it was good value for the money. Round took almost 5 hours.
