Our first visit to Whistler so lets start from the beginning:

The trip was organised by Select Ski, an operator we have used before and who I cannot recommend highly enough. Janine Nathan, who heads up the company, can organise everything at prices lower than you can arrange yourself online but tailored to your own individual needs and wishes, including very short notice purchase of BC league ice hockey match tickets in Vancouver for five members of our party who just fancied a different experience. If you want to ski North America save yourself a whole lot of hassle and let this company do it all for you.

Flights are flights but at least we had a choice of carriers, either Air Canada or BA.

Private transfers from Vancouver to Whistler recommended and avoided any delays/hanging around airports when tired from travelling.

Arrival at the Westin: First impressions, nice lobby, helpful staff, concise and useful information and rapid access to the room. We stayed in a two bedroom connecting suite being a family of five and it was perfect, comprising of two units with a connecting door between them. You therefore get two entrances, two full bathrooms, one room with a really comfortable massive bed, a two ring hob, full oven, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and pull out sofa bed. The other area has the same kitchen facilities and lounge but also has a small dining table which easily sits five, the pull out in a separate lounge area, a small balcony and a double bedroom just off.

We managed to cook full Sunday roasts, steak dinners and all our breakfasts with no problems at all. Daily housekeeping, provided by Emily was courteous, friendly and efficient and a real bonus to the trip and as far as I could see the staff timed their service to when you were out.

The pool was great and our kids really enjoyed it and the gym was small but well equipped. Sauna and steam rooms nice but only one outside hot tub-possibly the only negative comment for this hotel.

Restaurant really good with a nice atmosphere but eclipsed by the bar which gives great service, really good food in a laid back but still quite upmarket atmosphere. The valet ski service is phenomenal meaning that if you're a 'valet dad' like me then all your work is done for you. Also linked to the ski rental outlet meaning no walking around picking up/switching out gear.

I bought my wife and daughter a massage in the spa for St. Valentine's day and they both said that it was the best treatment they'd ever received.

More mundanely there is a laundry on every floor and free shuttle to any where in Whistler to get groceries etc.

Bottom line: great location, very convenient rental, valet ski service, very nice shared areas, great rooms and superb customer service. More expensive than some other locations but very much worth it and comes in at great value for a family skiing together.

Room Tip: Double Deluxe suite is as described and actually two connecting units. We found it great for a littl...

Good location close to the lifts, rooms ok facilities fine ,staff friendly and efficient. Like the ski pick up service at the end of the day. Did not like the street cleaning operations outside in the middle of the night.

Room Tip: On the upper floors!

This hotel is located right next to the gondola and lifts as well as the village, which makes it a perfect destination for a ski trip. It has all the conveniences of a 5 star hotel and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We had a fantastic time here.

We enjoyed the location and general condition of the Westin Whislter but were very disappointed in two areas. The two bedroom we stayed in with a family of five was advertised to have a kitchen. At best it was a galley in an RV and was stuffed with expensive items the Westin wanted you to purchase. So rather than having a kitchen in which you could cook breakfast before skiing we were left with a less that desireable situation and had to plan to eat out instead of using the kitchen as advertised. Mind you, we have stayed at the Westin in Beaver Creek CO which has an amazing kitchen, so we expected the same.

And - you need more outdoor hot tubs. We literally had to wait in line on a Wednesday PM to use the hot tubs as they were solo full.

Room Tip: Know what you are getting. Great location, but small rooms and no real kitchen!

Thank you for choosing to stay at The Westin Resort and Spa, Whistler. We appreciate your feedback and your helpful insights. Thank you for your comments regarding the general feel of the hotel and the amazing location in Whistler. We are sorry to hear that you did not find the same level of satisfaction in the guestrooms. Each of our guestrooms features a kitchenette in which items are available to purchase for your convenience. During this season we typically have high occupancy which can lead to more crowded hotel facilities; we will discuss at our next management meeting the possibility of adding another hot tub. Thank you again for your feedback, it is greatly appreciated.

We just got back from our first family vacation! We were able to stay 5 nights at the Westin in Whistler through my mothers Raintree Vanaction timeshare. It was wonderful! They have one of the best locations and every amenity you could possible think of! Even a kids club, where you can leave your kids ski the slopes or even sneak out to grab lunch! Love this resort, we are starting to plan our next trip up!

Room Tip: We requested a room viewing Spirit Mtn as we have been told the rooms facing Blackcomb and the villa...
