This is the second time I have stayed at the Fairmont Whistler. I like the authentic chalet/ski resort feel of the hotel. Our room had been renovated and felt very nice. Service was very prompt for things like a malfunctioning hair dryer. We did have to call down when our room had not been made up by 5 p.m. The staff was extremely obliging and helpful in all areas of the hotel. Loved that!

Myself and two friends stayed in this hotel the night of June 22nd as we were in town for Tough Mudder. The hotel is about a 8 - 10 minute walk from the village which is good. It's close enough to walk to but far enough away that you don't have to listen to screaming drunks outside your room until 3:00am.

The hotel and rooms are clean, comfortable, wi-fi accessible, and the staff is excellent. We had called the front desk to ask about a cot and one was brought to our room within 10 minutes. There are also towels available at the pool / hot tub area. I didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment on the dining experience, but it is right inside the hotel if you don't feel like going out. If you're coming to Whistler and want a hotel that's got more to offer and a quiet place to sleep with excellent service, this hotel is definitely for you.

Despite this hotel being wonderful, it is an expensive place to stay. We paid $300 for one night. In addition be careful when you turn on the TV. We had turned to the music channel and were greeted with a message stating we got 15 minutes of music for free after that we would have to pay. 15 minutes came and gone and there was no prompt to purchase music, it just shows up on your bill the next day. I had brought this issue up with the staff and the charge was removed without a hassle.

Also, my two room-mates ordered one "double" drink each ( 2 drinks, 4 shots of liquor) via the pool-side waiter, which came to $44 for the two drinks. My friends say the drinks were delicious but felt the $44 price tag was a little steep. Just be careful that's all!

All in all a great experience at a price. I hope you find this review useful.

Room Tip: - Ask to see a menu / price before ordering anything! - Be careful when you turn on the TV, read it...

We stayed here for 3 nights. Overall, it was a nice hotel but seems very pricey for what you get. We had two problems upon check in that you typically don't associate with this class of hotel. First, they did not have any rooms left with king sized beds, and second, they gave us a room direclty outside where there was a live band for the wedding taking place at this hotel. They did eventually change our room, but it took some time and hassle that should have been avoidable.

Stayed off-season (june) and found it good but not fabulous. The rooms are nice size and clean. The restaurants are quite expensive, but there are plenty of options within walking distance. The location is good for the peak to peak gondola. The best part of the Fairmont (at this time of year) is the golf course... the best course I've ever played. On the 3rd hole there were a mother black bear with two cubs near the womens tees! I was underwhelmed by Portobello for breakfast (dry pastries, so-so coffee).

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent stay here at the hotel. We are so pleased to hear that our golf course ranks best, and it’s terrific you spotted a mother bear and her cubs - from a safe distance of course! We have quite a few wildlife members roaming around the links at this time of year. It is great to hear you enjoyed our convenient location in Upper Village, only minutes from all of the amenities in Whistler!

Our apologies you were not completely satisfied with our dining options, we certainly strive to uphold the highest quality standards so I do hope you are able to return for a fresh experience.

We hope to welcome you back to Whistler and our Golf Club in the near future!

Sincerely,

Chris Smart

We stayed at the Chateau Whistler 2 weekend in a row, one was with our daughter, son in law and two grand sons, and the next weekend with a couple of friends. Both stays were very enjoyable, the rooms are very spacious, well furnished and very clean, the kids used the pool which is very nice and in a lovely spot with a view of the mountains.
Check in desk is very friendly and helpful, beautiful lobby area.
We had lunch in theMallard lounge which was very good also a few late night drinks, again very friendly staff. We ate breakfast both times in the Wildflower but wasn't impressed with the al a carte, our son in law had the buffet, excellent choices and well worth the money.
The hotel is a bit of a walk to the Village, so if you want somewhere right in the Village stay some where else, but I would definitely stay here again

I stayed here for one night for a work conference. I had a slopeside room, which was apparently an upgrade from the one I originally booked. The hotel is huge, location is good as you can walk from the village but at night it's quiet. It's a grand hotel, and I'm sure it was a stunner in it's day, but they could really use some upgrading both inside and out. The room came with basic amenities, it was clean, and the bed was comfortable. I can't comment on dining as I didn't eat there. Unfortunately I didn't get to the gym or pool either, so maybe I missed some highlights at this hotel? Overall I had nothing to complain about, but nothing to rave about either.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for sharing your feedback on your recent conference stay here at the hotel. It is great to hear your comments on our location as well as the comfort of your guestroom. As a landmark property within the resort, the character of the hotel is definitely reminiscent of a classic alpine era however we do perform annual refurbishments and upgrades. Recent renovations include our guestroom corridors, Health Club and slopeside pool deck.

We hope you are able to return and experience all of our facilities and dining options.

Sincerely,

Chris Smart

We had a great family visit to Whistler and would highly recommend The Fairmont Chateau Whistler. The property offers the best facilities - pools hot tubs, health club, lounges and restaurants - and is situated in the perfect location (upper village) for kids activities. The staff / service was consistently quite good and rooms are beautifully updated. Value is good / well priced for this class of property, but parking fees ($39/day valet and $35/day self) are ridiculous for the vicinity. Would definitely stay here again!
