Me and my partner had a very present stay in Fairmont in the first week of January. The service was great. Everyone from the bell service to the restaurant to the ski hiring shop was very friendly and helpful. Some of the unexpected good experience include 1. we got our personal lift to the Whistler village outside the hotel shuttle bus operation hour, 2. you can cash out from the concierge anytime (i.e. no need to even withdraw from the ATMs or make cash advance on our credit card).

The food from the Wildflower restaurant was good quality and good value, even better than some of the high end restaurants in town.

The hot spa pool outside the hotel is almost never crowded, except probably between 5-6 when everyone comes down from the mountain. Not to mention the music pool, first time to swim with music played on your ears !

The location, you almost can't get a better location than this, literally 50 meters from the chairlift.

Value wise, we book the Slopeside Fairmont room for $250 including tax per night, compared to the RRP of like $600 during the Xmas to new years season. so if you get the timing right, it's of really good value.

We will be back!

We spent 9 nights at the Fairmont in Whistler in a deluxe room and we didn't want to leave! The service in all areas of the hotel was excellent. The staff were very friendly and were willing to go out of their way to make our stay great. Though the decor in the room is getting towards a little dated it's fine and has a cosy, traditional feel. The bed was very comfortable and the room size was very good. The ski and boot room was very convenient, just a few steps from the bottom of Blackcomb mountain and the Wizard ski lift. We're hoping to go back next year!

We spent four nights at the Fairmont in Whistler in December and loved every minute of it. We stayed on the Gold floor and were checked in by Daniel. We arrived early in the day and our room was not ready so Daniel arranged for an upgrade to a Jr Suite on the 9th floor. We hung out in the Gold Lounge and by the time Daniel gave us our keys, our bags (all four of them) had already been delivered to our room and stowed away in the huge walk-in closet. The room was large (really two rooms), which was nice because we were spending a few days and had a lot of stuff and the bathroom was quite deluxe. We had a double-sided fireplace and windows that opened. The bed was probably the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in. Breakfast in the Gold Lounge was quite deluxe as well, with several hot items, a selection of breads and lots of fresh fruit. Coffee and tea were available all day long and at times during the day, snacks were available. There was a selection of movies available to borrow (though most were older movies, we found a couple we had not seen) and our room had a small fridge for our own beverages.
The location of the hotel is quite nice, if you don't mind walking a bit to the lower village. There is a shuttle that comes around often, but we never needed to use it. We have stayed in the Lower Village during our previous visits to Whistler and did not consider the Upper Village to be out of the way. There was ski rental located inside the hotel and they kept our boots and skis for us overnight.
Customer service at the Fairmont is over-the-top and every request was fulfilled delightfully quick. We could not have asked for a more wonderful stay. I can certainly recommend the Fairmont (especially the Gold Floor) and we will definitely look to the Fairmont for our next stay in Whistler.
The only complaint I have is the cost of parking. Parking in Whistler is quite limited but the lodge next door has a small public lot that is only $15 per day. The bad part is you cannot pre-pay for multiple days, so we had to buy a parking ticket each day. However, parking at the Fairmont is $30 per day for self-parking or $35 for valet so it was well worth it for the significantly lower cost.
Overall, I would definitely recommend the Fairmont. The service is fantastic, the room was awesome and the location was perfect for us.

Room Tip: Go for the Gold Floor - I think the extra amenities you get for the cost are definitely worth it.

We were there for our honeymoon in June of 2010 and were treated extremely well. We were fortunate enough to stay in the Fairmont Gold Penthouse Suite. Not inexpensive but it was worth it. The Gold level room also gave us access to a hospitality type room that had great breakfast and amazing hors d'oeuvres as well as complementary DVDs and CDs to use in your room. One evening we ordered room service and they brought our popcorn, twizzlers, rootbeer and pizza right to the comfy sectional in our room as we relaxed and watched movies! (I know, to wild and crazy for most). The view from the room was breathetaking and food thoughout the entire hotel was great. Highly recommend this hotel and this room!

Room Tip: Use the Gold room ammenities!

After staying at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Resort the week before Christmas, we have already decided to return in March for another opportunity to learn to snowboard. Our daughter is already enjoying her ski lessons and wants mom and dad to join her on the slopes. When evaluating any hotel it is easy to find faults, as it ages the luster will always become a little dull. Some reviews touch on that concept. I will focus on the human element that is important when our family travels. The staff here was always warm and helpful from the day we arrived until the day we left

Mike who drives the shuttle into the main village was always helpful and had a smile on his face when he greeted us. His suggestion for lunch at a small eatery was spot on. It was one we would not have ventured into as it was a little hidden at the end of a building and hidden by a stairway. His directions were easy to follow and worth it. He also greeted us once while he was off duty to remind us that the shuttle would be a different colored bus at the end of the day. This was in the main village as we were walking back from the lifts. This again was not something that he had to do, but did so out of his concern for our comfort and well being.

Ian at the Concierge desk helped to book several things for us while we were there. After leaving I had found that I was incorrectly charged for a fondue dinner and sleigh ride. I emailed the hotel and received a quick reply from Ian as well as the operator of the company that operated the sleigh ride. The problem was resolved quickly and courteously and communication was excellent. I have read many comments on this site about bad experiences and terrible customer service after the departure from the hotel. This was not the case for our family at the Fairmont.

These two examples of customer service made our trip a pleasant experience and a family memory to cherish. If you enjoy the interaction with people on vacation, these two individuals will definitely brighten your day.

We picked the Fairmont because it's right on the hill and tends to be a lot quieter than the Village. Checked in early and the bellman did a great job setting us up for the day. Unfortunately when we checked in at 4 pm, they didn't have our bags in our room and the ski concierge area is utter chaos. Same thing the next morning when we went to get our skis and boots - one person to help with your boots so every guest ended up helping themselves. There is just not enough space or staff. Room was not the cleanest, no robes when we checked in, candy wrappers from the last guest still in the closet, light bulb out in the bathroom the entire time. Same thing in the pool, hot tub area, 2 waitresses to serve at least 50 people outside. On the plus side, they are really geared towards families, kids everywhere and staff are very accommodating with the younger set. For slightly more money would suggest the Four Seasons where the service is a lot more personalised, and the attention to details and staff to guest ratio is much higher.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for choosing The Fairmont Chateau Whistler for your recent trip to Whistler. We were pleased to read that our bell team did a great job upon your arrival. It was disappointing to learn that your experience with the Whistler Blackcomb ski valet and our pool side service was not comparable. Please accept our apology for the lack of attention to detail in your guest room. The concerns that you mentioned should not have gone unnoticed by our Housekeeping team. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss your experience in greater detail. The Front Office Management team can be reached at cwrfoleaders@fairmont.com.

Great location right near the chairlifts to go up to the peak to peak gondola...5 minute walk to the lower village...we used the pool and the restaurants inside...get free wifi by signing up with the Fairmont presidents club (free to join)...clean rooms, nice staff...would definitely stay again
