“10 out of 10 for location & friendliness!!”
Reviewed March 1, 2009

Our family just came back from Whistler and we stayed at the Pan Pacific Mountainside. We have always skied in Europe in the past but decided we would take the plunge and see what Canada had to offer. We have two small children so we needed a room for 4. The hotel staff could not do enough to help with all our needs, bearing in mind that Ski World who we booked with had done nothing at all to help or even turn up to greet us. The hotel facilities were great with a lovely outdoor pool & 2 jacuzzi's which was great to relax in after a hard day skiing. We booked a one bedroomed suite which was ample for our family, although our kids being 8 & 9 didn't really like the pull out sofa bed, but it was sufficient for their needs. But the room itself was great with a little kitchenette & lovely enclosed fireplace to warm up your feet.

All in all the location was the best with convenience to the slopes right opposite and all the restaurants which you need with a family with smaller children. The General Manager even gave us a welcome letter on our arrival which was a nice touch.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to all of my friends, the staff really made our holiday, they helped with ski school, booking all our activities which we were poorly let down by Ski World. I would never book a holiday ever again with Ski World!!

Had problems with a rental property in Whistler and ended up as a walk-in at Pan Pacific Mountainside. Been to many different hotels & condos in Whistler village over the years and Pan Pacific is probably one of the nicest but off course one of the more expensive. It is just a couple of steps to both Blackcomb and Whistler lifts. When there are events such as ski jumping at the base, rooms that face the mountain have a great balcony view of the event. For the ultimate in laziness there is a secure locker room close to the entrance so you don't have to carry your snowboard or ski's in/out of your room.

No restaurant in the hotel however there is a pub which we did not visit. However most of Whistler's eating establishments are a short walk from the hotel and with a full kitchen in the room and two markets in Whistler, home cooked meals saved money but more importantly offered intimacy for the two of us in the evening.

Service was excellent with hotel staff all well trained and exuded a positive attitude to provide an enjoyable stay at Pan Pacific

  • Liked — Steps from Gondolas, excellent view for mountainside rooms & great staff
  • Disliked — Little more expensive than what I normally pay for a Whistler stay, had to pay for parking

It's been a while since I was wowed by a hotel, but this one did it for me. The rooms were great, the staff was amazing, and the location was perfect.

We had a one bedroom suite on the 6th floor that included a fully-equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances. The living room had a gas fireplace and floor to ceiling windows with beautiful views.

The bathroom is not like most modern hotel bathrooms with a separate tub and shower. However, it still felt surprisingly spacious.

The room was spotlessly clean, and housekeeping even washed dishes. The staff was very helpful and responded eagerly to every request.

The hotel has a "shuttle" that is more like a private car service. It was immediately available each time we needed it, and it took us to Lost Lake for cross-country skiing as well as to the Fairmount Chateau for a sleigh ride and fondue dinner.

The hotel is located right in front of the gondolas for both the Blackcomb and the Whistler mountains and convenient to the many restaurants in Whistler Village.

Room service prices were very reasonable compared to comparable hotels, and we ordered room service for breakfast. It was delivered on time (actually, a few minutes early) and was delicious.

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. I highly recommend it.

Just returned from this wonderful place. The Pan Pacific staff goes out of their way to make your trip perfect. Just ask Morad anything and he can help. He may be the best hotel employee of all time. I thought Texans were friendly. We will be back!

We had a two night stopover on our trip from the Rockies to Vancouver and the Pan Pacific takes the award for the best hotel of our trip. On reception, the staff were very helpful and friendly as was the Valet who parked our car. The lobby and lift area have a nice ambience and tastefully furnished. We were allocated a room on the top floor -No 708, which had a full height window with excellent views over the valley. There was also a small balcony area, although this was more of a smoking area as no more than one seat coul dbe accommodated. The room was nicely furnished, with a pull down Murphy bed and also a sofa bed. The integral kitchenette area was well equipped with everything you would need should you wish to be entirely self catering. The hotel had a laundry facility near to the pool/ spa area, which we made good use of as we were just over half way through our trip and needed to freshen things up a bit! The pool area is reached through a small gymnasium which also has a really nice steam room. The outdoor pool area was nice with plenty reclining seats and a couple of nice hot tubs overlooking the ski runs and gondolas.

The location of the hotel is convenient for the village centre but if arriving by car you would do well to read the directional instructions carefully, as the hotel would not be easily found intuitively.

We ate once in the informal Irish Bar/restaurant in the hotel which serves a reasonable pint of Guinness and has live music.

Overall very good value and a thouroughly pleasant stay.

My ten year old son and I came back to Whistler for our second Father/Son trip in July/August 2008 and we loved it! We first discovered Whistler and the Pan Pacific Mountainside when our family skied here Christmas/New Years 2005/2006. The staff went out of their way to make a family from the South, whose eight year old son had never ever seen snow, and Santa had told him he would see snow on Christmas Day, feel they were the most important people in their universe!

In 2006 Trey and I returned in August or our Father/Son 8 and loved it! The Pan Pacific took care of all of our needs and the staff was great.

In 2008 we returned for Father/Son 10 and Jim Douglas, the General Manager of the Hotel , and his entire staff were fantastic! We had a great stay and were treated like kings !

I would reccommend this hotel to anyone going to Whistler!

My husband and I spent two weeks touring BC with a 5 night stay in Whistler. Most of the trip we stayed at small B&Bs but the Pan Pacific was by far our best stop. We chose the Pan Pacific because of the location overlooking the bike park; the view was unbelievable—for a mountain bike freak especially.
Our one bedroom, mountain view room was very spacious. We had a ton of mountain bike gear with us and I was able to tuck all but the bike in the closet. After staying in small B&B rooms, this was very refreshing.
The hotel was amazingly quiet too. We enjoyed the understated décor and appreciated the comfortable bed. The only negative in the whole room was an uncomfortable side chair in the living area. For this longer stay, the kitchen was nice to make breakfast each morning. We also appreciated the coin laundry.
All of the hotel staff was quite nice but very respectful of our space. Again, after staying in B&Bs we found the peace refreshing. We have stayed in Whistler before at the Chateau but the Pan Pacific has won us over. This will be our preferred location from now on.
