Riverside Resort Whistler
Reviewed December 31, 2010

Spent night in Riverside Cabin on a quick last minute trip to Whistler. Its a RV campground with log cabins options. Located away from Whistler village down towards Meadow Sports complex. Good view of the Mtn from property. Amazed at all the RV's -pretty chilly nights! Small, but affordable, considering price of other rental condos in Whistler. Added bonus was we were able to bring dog. (Not all cabins are pet friendly though - must ask when making reservation.) Reservations and check in were quick and efficiant. Cabin was clean & warm & quiet. Kids loved the loft. Ladder is steep. Better for older kids. Might be a bit steep for young young kids. Our towels were new and fluffly. Strict cleaning policy - do your dishes and take out trash but for price it's hard to find a better deal. Can't beat the breakfast at the Riverside Cafe. Don't ever spend much time in condos anyways - too many things to do in Whistler - ski - eat - shop - meadows sports complex. Will stay again.

We were a medium sized group of 40+ olds. Some of us had our children with us, some camped, some stayed in Cabins. The grounds are beautiful, but for the price of a cabin, I would have expected it to be spotless. They don't do house Keeping. When we arrived we were given keys to a cabin that had not been cleaned. Dirty Towels in the Shower, beds all slept in. For the price we were charged we should have stayed at the Chateau Whistler. We stood out on the porch in the heat for over an hour waiting for someone to clean the cabin before we moved in our luggage.

After the cleaning was done, we had one roll of toilet paper for 4 people, one towel each, no paper towel in the kitchen and signs that tell you that if you don't do the dishes, you'll be charged extra. Maybe they shoud leave T-Towels and Dish cloths. The fridge is no bigger than a mini fridge. The ice box was so frozen over, that you couldn't even get a bag of ice in it. Crumbs and krud between the stove and counter tops. The bedding also had alot to be desired. If things have holes in them, you should throw them out, same being said for stains on the pillow cases. I wished I brought a sleeping bag and my own pillow.

They have rules that are only inforced to some and not others. Same can be said for the revenge motivated fines they like to hand out.

We were there for the long weekend, needless to say I could hardly wait to leave.

I do however thank all the people that were there for their family reunion, if it wasn't for you people having our backs, we would have never been able to have our team BBQ.

Nice nightlife and atmosphere, but the weather is way too unpredictable in the summer months, Out of the total of 22 days that I've been there on three separate occasions, it rained for 16. As well, I find the night life too expensive for what is being offerred (this is not L.A. that we're talking about).

Also, I would definitely not recommend the Riverside RV and campground:
1. The walk in tent sites are way too far from the parking lot.
2. There are never enough wheel barrels to haul your stuff from your car
3. The cancellation policy is atrocious
4. The strict bear policy makes you have to haul all food and dishes constantly. This results in a long day with a lot of work.
5. Many of the bear caches are in poor condition and don't go high enough.
