we can no longer have our 2 boys on a pull out couch. although pricier that a 1 bedroom, it was well worth it. Pool and hot tub were good. Only niggling comment during peak check out time the carts were in scarce supply to get bags to car. Manager did best to locate them though

We stayed at Evolution last year the week before Xmas and had a wonderful time, so we decided to do it again this year. We were in a one bedroom last year, which was a bit small but comfortable for our family of four (two adults + two little boys, 4 and 2 at the time). We were on the third floor with a unit facing the back of the property last year. It was perfectly quiet and beautiful, with views of mountain/trees/snow falling. We never had to close the blinds for privacy. We wanted to make sure we had a similar unit this time, so we called ahead to arrange it. We were told we had a street-side unit and that there was no way to change it. We were nervous on the way up about the potential street/snow removal truck noise a previous reviewer had warned about.

However, what we found when we checked in was that our street-side room was also a corner, top floor unit with windows all across the living room/kitchen area and high vaulted ceilings. It came with an extra large deck with a fireplace between the living room and deck (yes, one of those see-through ones previous reviewers have described). The openness provided by all the windows coupled with high ceilings made the 1bd unit feel very spacious and bright (penthouse units are primarily on the fourth floor of this resort, but there are few top units on the third floor). This particular unit more than made up for the potential street noise, which was not too noticeable since the windows were closed most of the time (being winter and all).

As mentioned by other reviewers, the kitchen is well appointed--Miele appliances (including an almost silent dishwasher) and spotless everything. Speaking of spotless, kudos to the housecleaning staff!! This is a pet-friendly resort. Having lived with a golden retriever in the past, I know that even the most meticulous of housecleaning can leave a few stray pet hairs behind. But, in both stays, we have never found anything in the way of pet hairs to suggest that an animal has been in the unit(s). The carpet is probably due for a steam cleaning, but other than that, everything was very clean. And, the heated tile floor in the bathroom....aaaaahhh!!

As for proximity to the Creekside gondola/Whistler Kids/ticket counter, while I wouldn't consider this a ski-in/ski-out resort, we found it to be very convenient and easily accessible. We walked to the gondola and back each day with two kids (5 and 3 now), all of us in ski boots, hauling four pairs of skis/poles, and we didn't find it terribly painful. A great benefit to Creekside is that you don't have the crowds that Whistler has in the mornings. There was never a wait to load up at the gondola, as opposed to the madhouse that Whistler Village gondola can be in the mornings with hundreds of skiers plus all the sightseers going up for Peak2Peak.

As for family entertainment, while the G-rated movie in the media room at 6:30pm each evening was nice, there wasn't much else for young children to do in the hotel or within walking distance. Fortunately, after a full day of skiing, there wasn't much the children needed in terms of outside entertainment before they were tired and ready for bed. Bringing games, books and DVDs from home is recommended.

All in all, this was a great stay!

Room Tip: Top floor units are quietest and allows for most privacy and views. Penthouse units are primarily on...

This is a lovely property with a fatal flaw: the sound attenuation between floors seems non existent. Three staff members we spoke to regarding this problem acknowledged it was their most common complaint. We were staying below a family with very active children, and the pounding of little feet was non stop until the kids bedtime. Even the sound of people walking along the hallway on the floors above and the closing of doors telegraphed right through to our room below. Our room faced the street so we had the traffic noise through the night. We were not offered another room within the building or in any other of their buildings. We were given a handful of earplugs. I lost 5 nights sleep because of this. Cleaning was not consistent: on the first day our room was not cleaned at all, the glass cook top was not cleaned at all during our stay, and on our second last day the bathroom was left exactly as we left it before going skiing. Very strange. Safety concerns for parents of small children: the two drawer bedside dresser will tip over if both drawers are opened at once and the two sided fireplace is extremely hot. The light level in the bedroom was very low - I opened the closet doors and turned on the closet light that would help.

Room Tip: ask for a room on the top floor facing the mountain

Our stay at the Evolution complex was amazing like always!
Our condo with 2 BR was very spacious and comfy for the whole family with 2 kids under 6!
The balcony was huge wrap around with an outside fireplace and fully furnished!
Everything we needed was there from the washer & dryer and soap to the wine glasses!
The heated pool was frisky but the jacuzi was awesome!

We went to Whistler for the first time at the end of November, to spend the American Thanksgiving playing in the snow. We stayed in a two bedroom condo. It was great. The condo was very big and with all the facilities you need. The bathrooms have heated floor and the cosmetics are Paya Organics. Even though during the weekend there were several big groups of students, the room offered the quietness necessary when having kids.

The hotel is very close to a grocery store, liquor store and three restaurants that serve organic, local and sustainable food (Aura, Creekbreads and Rim's Rock Cafe).

I am planning on going back during the summer. It's really a good deal!

I really like this hotel, the decor is very modern and has an urban feel to it. I personally like staying in Creekside, nice and quite yet has most of the amenities that I need (restaurants, pub, shops, grocery store). Very handy having the full kitchen, ideal for longer stays.

The games room is great and so is the media room, I was by myself this trip as I was there for business but have stayed here with friends and my wife before and it comes in handy, would be great with kids too.

I would recommend going to check out Creekbread Pizza just across the street and also Dusty's pub, awesome wings, bbq and anything that can be dipped into their "Butt Rub" mayo.

You have to check into Legends which is right next door, easy enough to do I suppose. The same company, Lodging Ovations also runs Legends and First Tracks which are all within a couple hundred metres of each other, both are worthwhile looking into if you are considering staying in Creekside.

This is the second time this summer we stayed at Evolution. It's perfect if you have dogs and toddlers. it's also a relatively newer property in the area so it is not run down like some of the whistler properties we have seen in previous visits to the area. We stayed on the south side of the building closest to the creek where we could enjoy the sounds of rushing water of the creek from our deck in the evenings. we did have an item or two the was missing or broken in our room. However everytime we called about an issue, it was quickly resolved. During our last visit to Creekside, the already limited dining options were limited even more as both Dusty's and the steakhouse were closed. so instead of going up to the village to eat, we took advantage of buying our groceries from the Creekside Market where we prepared our meals from the Kitchen in our room. One evening we even grilled steaks for dinner which was great...the BBQ/Grilling area is located next to the property's pool.

Overall we were very pleased with our stay at Evolution. And because it's dog friendly, we will most likey stay there again this coming ski season.
