Owner description: Polson Park is located near the heart of Vernon, adjacent to Highway 97 and Highway 6. The park was established in 1908 when Samuel Polson donated a large parcel of land to the city. Located in the park is the Lawn Bowling Club, the Interior Space and Science Centre, the Arts Council and Vernon Heritage Hall.Polson Park is probably best known for the Floral Clock that was installed in 1958. The date is changed daily and it provides a great photo with its colourful background. Further into the park you will find the Japanese Garden, which was donated by the Japanese Community and the Chinese Pagoda, which was donated by the Chinese Community. Both were constructed in 1967 as Centennial Projects. The Rose Garden, a perennial favorite and also a Centennial project, is located in the south east of the park. Specific areas of the park can be reserved for your special event such as weddings, social gatherings and concerts.

Great location in downtown Vernon. Lots of shade trees for the hot summer. Good climbing equipment. Has a sprinkler water park, a big duck and goose pond. Lots of picnic tables and benches to just sit and relax.

This is a lovely park for strolling around, for taking a blanket with you & stretching out for a nap, or taking time for reading a book. Water babbles quietly in the background. Ducks waddle everywhere, looking for some friendly people to share their lunch. The park is filled with a wide variety of beautiful flowers and is always very well cared for. There is a water play section for young children at one end of the park. This is nice for parents with kids & good for those seeking only quiet as it leaves the other areas of the park in tranquility.

In Vernon for the weekend it ended up raining most of the time but that didn't stop us from visiting Polson Park and we are very glad that it didn't. This is a great place to wander and take a break from any stresses. We grabbed a coffee and some breakfast and strolled for about an hour in the early morning and in the misty rain and had such a good time that I am sure if we make it back to Vernon, we will do it all over again. TIP - bring a camera because there are multiple places for some nice scenic photo's of nature or your family (or both).

Thanks for reading...hope it helps.
