We've lived in Victoria for many years but had not eaten at Il Terrazzo before. As a regular TA user, the rave reviews piqued my interest and my husband and I had dinner there last week. The restaurant was crowded, so it's clearly popular. We waited 15 minutes to be seated even though we had reservations. The food was strangely not very Italian. The calamari appetizer was swimming in an overpowering cilantro sauce. The scallop and tuna appetizer was likewise drowned in an exceedingly salty soy sauce and sesame seed sauce. Examples of Italian-Asian fusion dishes that did not work and showed little understanding of either Italian or Asian cuisine! Next courses of rissotto was so salty as to be almost inedible and the pork scallopine suffered from a heavy breading and came with overcooked boring carrots and broccoli. The only part of dinner we enjoyed was the bread basket and the nice tapenade (and the bottle of perfectly chilled pinot grigio)! In short, I can't understand the rave reviews. Please give your business to the other many wonderful restaurants in Victoria and don't waste your time and money at Il Terrazzo.
