What a disaster my lunch order was!!
After a lengthy ponder of the menu, ordered the Tofu Lettuce Wraps but was told 20 minutes in, "oh, sorry, forgot to say, none left" so made a quicky decision to opt for the Beet Salad. Based this upon other lovely beet salads other diners were enjoying.
It was meant to be a full-meal sized salad but arrived pathetically scant and visually unworthy of the Rebar's reputation; on a small plate, very poor value for money. It amounted to about 1 cup of finely chopped greens, fully wilted down onto the plate with far too much dressing; aside from that, consisted of about a teaspoon of what looked like pre-chewed beets on the plate's edge(disgusting), and about a teaspoon of untidy goat's cheese, also on the edge of the mass of unappetizing greens. Nothing remotely similar to the other fabulous piles on lovely large plates.
Expensive and inedible.
Ate none of it. The server packed it up; I took it for the seagulls.
When I explained my disappointment to the server, explaining to her that another diner sitting nearby had a beet salad, that was practically a work of art and twice the size of mine, the server said "oh that's the other, the house salad, and it's not organic"....so, I wonder, is the moral of the story at Rebar: if you want an appetizing meal don't order organic? This explanation was an insult.
For shame Rebar! Why call an absolutely inedible pile of old looking chopped greens organic with less than a mouthful of beets and even less of goat cheese an excuse for an expensive full meal-size salad? Disgraceful.
