It's a bit of a walk from the waterfront, but worth it (we also lost all the other tourists).
We had three noodle dishes between us, all of which were fresh and excellent.
There is a window to the kitchen, so you can see your food being made and know just how fresh it is.
In talking with our friendly server we found out that the chef recently bought the place. A chef-owned restaurant is usually a very good thing.
Do beware - this restaurant closes between lunch and dinner.

This is a family favourite. We have been coming for so long for the many delicious noodle dishes, (including their wonderful lunchtime Malaysian chow mein), ginger beef, lemon chicken, the House Special fried rice and the wor wonton soup that the faces of the staff light up when we step into the restaurant.

We went again today for lunch. Wonton soup, house special fried rice, Szechuan shrimp chow mein and the daily lunch special. Once again good flavoursome Chinese cooking.

This is a different style of Chinese cooking from the 'typical' Chinese food restaurant one finds in Canada. But it is absolutely delicious, and the crowded lunchtime atmosphere is testament to the fact that J&J's remains a perennial favourite of the locals.

If you want thin chicken chow mein, gluey chop suey and a fortune cookie, look elsewhere. If you want to take a chance on some amazing flavours, give J&J's a try. Zagat rated, for a reason.

i've been here a number of times for lunch wth my son. went again today. excellent service. neat to be able to see into the kitchen through a window at the back of the restaurant. polished brass railings. fun glass lazy susans on the round tables. hot, fresh, crisp dishes. served quickly, paced well. friendly staff. hot tea served as soon as we are seated. everything looks so clean. many repeat clients. an experience one can rely on.

Best Chines food in Victoria. You have to try the garlic pork and the honey sesame chicken.

We dream of the delicious food we enjoy at this restaurant we go to every time we visit Victoria. Sad that this trip the owners were closed for vacation. Also sad to hear it may be closing. :(
The food here is awesome. The plain formica tables and diner-like ambience might fool you but the food is out of this world. The kitchen is visible to the restaurant and we enjoy watching the cooks as the flames surge and the food is delivered piping hot within minutes of placing the order.
