Enjoyed lunch here. Arrived a bit earlier than full buffet opened, so might recommend they open it earlier. Otherwise, the rest of the food was great

If you enjoy vegetarian food and you like lots of variety then this is a great place to eat. Its not fancy, the ambiance isn't the finest, but the food is fresh, tasty, healthy and inexpensive. The deserts are wonderful too, especially knowing that they are gluten free and not full of awful additives etc. The restaurant is probably not suitable for the main-stream kind of eater, but I would say it would be an eye-opener for them and worth a try. After all, traveling is about new experiences, right?! Its buffet style and you pay by weight but you won't be shocked by a hefty bill. My favourite was the falafel - crispy and tasty. Health-conscious people would love it and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Green cuisine is a cafeteria style restaurant with a nice range of tasty options. The staff are friendly and laid back. Decor is very 1970's and has changed little over time. It's a calm spot in the city, just down the stairs in Market Square.

You can count on these foods to be available:

- a choice of two soups
- bread (usually cornbread)
- cold salad bar w/an array of tasty salad dressings
- hot foods like steamed rice, broccoli, tempeh, macaroni and "cheese", beans, tofu
- french fries are sold by the bowl (people often stack these really high)
- sushi (usually 1 or 2 kinds)
- juices and smoothies made fresh
- many desserts

Aside from the soup and fries, most food is sold by weight. Last time I checked it was $1.99/100 g.

I wish they offered more raw foods, green smoothies and desserts sweetened with stevia instead of sweeteners that cause blood sugar to spike (cane sugar, molasses, rice syrup).

Salad bars can be hard to find in BC, much less those with a variety of options for vegans, so Green Cuisine is worth a visit if you are looking for this.

I have ate at Green Cuisine about eight times in the past, and it has always been good, but this last time it was excellent in terms of choices of tasty gluten free food choices! The falafels were gf and wonderful, and we had this marvelous chocolate cake that was out of this world - flavourful, moist, not too sweet (thank goodness) and gluten free!

I consistently find their buffet choices ranging from good to excellent, and if you are like me - a person who wants healthier foods than you normally find in most restaurants - you will find satisfaction, and sometimes even joy. Please note though some of their buffet offerings are not gluten free, I have always found a variety of gluten free foods in their buffet.

Visit them in Market Square! I am always amazed that they are not busier.

Note to those with young children - there is a special room with toys and space!

Visiting Victoria over the holidays and have had lunch here twice. Lots of choice on self serve buffet style food, good soups, salads and fixings and at least 8 or so different main course items. Really loved their shepherdess pie and tempeh in coconut milk. You pay by weight so be mindful - it can get pricey if you fill your plate.
