“Good casual dining on the pricy side”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2014 via mobile

Went there for dinner the first night in Victoria. The food was good - it was made from scratch and tasty. The menu is a bit on the pricy side, about $30 per person. Service was friendly and it was a good dating spot.

“More Sports Bar than Fine Dining”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2014

Went for a birthday dinner with my wife, daughter and her beau. When we made the reservation, they asked if it was a special occasion and we said it was a birthday celebration. We had a cosy booth that looked out onto Government Street and had a great view of the four big screen t.v.s above the bar. Nothing like a nice family dinner, eating a blue-rare steak and watching Ultimate Fighting.

The service was good and the appies and drinks brought in short order. The mains were a bit of a wait. The burger and fries our guest ordered looked very good. My daughter and I both ordered steaks with garlic mash. The steaks were tasty, but a bit tough, and the sauce was very nice - what there was of it. The garlic mash was lukewarm and dry but presented smartly in a small enameled dutch oven. Should be easy to serve piping hot considering that. The grilled asparagus was the best part of the meal.

We ordered dessert, but made no mention of the birthday. What is the point of asking if there is a special occasion if they are not going to note it down for future action?

The bill was about $150, all in - pretty pricey for no alcoholic drinks, just mains, one appy and one dessert. Better suited to after work drinks and appies. Cactus Club is a better value all round for dinner.

“Good food!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2014 via mobile

Earls is a very nice restaurant located in Victoria dowtown, a couple of blocks from the Empress Hotel. Food is vey good and also the cocktails. If you like mojitos I'd recommend you to try the raspberry mojito! The sushi is amazing! Sometimes if is very crowded they take a while to take your order

“Good, but expensive”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2014 via mobile

Didnt order anything fancy, no entrees just burgers and pizzas and a couple of drinks. Food was good, but found it overpriced. Bill was $107.00 for two adults and two children, plus tip. I am sure we will go again but not if we are looking for a reasonably priced family restaurant.

“Burger with fried onion rings .. too much”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2013

A family of seven, with two young kids, had a pleasant dinner. Children can find something to their liking but are not specifically catered to unlike Milestones which are nearby. Food and drinks were acceptable except that the burger with fried onion rings looked like a mini mountain with the onion heaped on top of the patty. Could be just my preference of lack of!
Staff were very friendly and efficient but the young waitresses must have worn some of the shortest clothes you will see in a restaurant. Younger males must be the target audience.
