This brewpub was decked out really nicely with a lovely vibe. Friendly waiting staff. Meals were nice with big portions but nothing our of the ordinary. I know it's in Victoria but I think it was perhaps a little overpriced for what you get. When we were there they had an offer on all wines though which was excellent and made the drinks relatively good value.

What the hell sort of brewpub does not offer a single IPA? Or any beer or more than 20 IBUs? (If you do not know what an IBU is, stop reading.) Did their accountant tell them that they must cut costs, a la Budweiser and Miller, by using minimal quantities of hops? Do they hate hops growers? Or do they prefer a clientele that prefers Bud Lite?

In any case, I found this a poor excuse for a brewpub, and you will too, unless your preferences run to weak-tasting beers.

Hi Ray,

Thank you for your review and feedback on our beer program. We focus on providing a balanced list that complements the seasons and that pairs well with food menu. Our 4 core beers (available year round) include a Witbier, Helles Lager, Amber Ale and West Coast Ale. The west coast ale provides a hop forward flavour without packing the punch of a high 'IBU' IPA. Throughout the year, we also brew a rotating signature and seasonal batch that does include more hop forward beers.

Feedback on our beer program is always appreciated.

Thank you,
Scott R., General Manager

We absolutely love Canoe Brewpub! We went on a Thursday night and it was very busy, but we were still seated right away at a beautiful outdoor table near the water. The view is great and the sunset from the outdoor patio was amazing. We tried a bunch of their beers and all of them were great - the flights were served in fairly large glasses which we were very happy with! We had poutine and a burger, both of which were excellent. Towards the end of our meal, it started getting a little cold, and the waitresses were going around to every table and handing out blankets to anyone who wanted one, a very nice touch. When we come back to Victoria, we will definitely be returning here!

This place is very big. It has many tables outside the building and many other inside the local. The beers are great but the food has some strange combinations that does not meet our tastes like pineapple, meat, mayo, rise and vegetables all together one over the other in the same plate. I'll come back here only to drink.

Make sure you ask for Grace's table, she was so helpful and cheerful that we asked for her table when we went back. Great outdoor patio overlooking the water but the inside atmosphere is fun too. One of very few Breweries that have a good food menu. Great craft beer
